How do I make a website ?

Can anyone point me in the right direction please. I want to make/ build two websites. One with just pictures and text and another that I can sell maybe 30 or 40 different products. I have never done anything like this before and don't have an eight year old child to ask.
I have looked at Go Daddy, but they don't have a beginners guide on what you actually have to do from the start. ie. how to register a domain name etc etc. I have read a number of forums but they all seem to assume a certain level of competence. I'm not stupid, just never done it before. Can anyone assist.

i have built two web sites and i am not a computer buff! i use Yola and both my web sites are free but you can up grade when ever you want, i found it easy after a few hours of playing around, not sure if i can give you my web site address on here for you to have a look? but it would show you the finished product.

I'm working on one at the moment, I've never done one before and am using www.Bigcommerce.com so far its easy enough.

Couple of free tips though...DON'T use Godaddy or any of the really cheap companies like them......they're cheap for a reason and I guarantee that in a year's time, you'll regret it.

Take a look at https://www.fast2host.com/ use that link as there are several other companies using very similar names.....look at the basic linux hosting package.

They are NOT the cheapest, but if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, and they ARE worth the smallish difference

It's run by a UKGSer and if you do a search for "fast2host" here, you'll see dozens of reviews and comments on them from over the years........you can register a domain with them AND get the hosting, and they're superb. (plus you get a discount through being on here)
