I'm replacing the crash bars on my Adventure and can't get the right top side off ( right hand as when sitting on the bike ). Is there a hidden bolt holding it on somewhere? ( I hope not as I've had the hammer on it for the last 10 minutes  ). Any info greatly appreciated - ta

...been trying to get the bleeder off for the last half hour... believe me that thought has gone through my mind :D

I think there's a bolt in there but I've bent the bar and can't see anything. Looks like I'm in for one of those days.... Think I'll have a  and a :spl1f: ... might not sort it but it'll sort me :D

Dunno if this helps :nenau

There is a "hidden bolt" inside the tube (not shown on diagram above as that's the LHS).
Do a "search" for size etc (I've not taken mine off yet)

thanks guys - sorted :thumb

I ended having to hacksaw the bar as the bung was jammed into it and the bar was bent. Undone the bolt once it was cut with no problems. I just have to find a foot long allen key to fit the new ones now

Thanks again - I'll post some pics here later to show what the pesky bolt looks like

...here's how i did it... cut the bars in two with a hacksaw...

I see that you've lost the centre rubber bung for the side panel.

I thought I'd lost mine after about 4,000 miles then found it 12,000 miles later sitting on a fuel-line! It's glued in place now.

What sort of damage did you have to the original bars to warrant that sort of surgery?

Why not buy a allen key bit of the correct size, the 1/4 inch drive to fit it in, and a foot long extension bar? Then you'll be able to torque load it correctly as well. :thumb
