Hi just got me new pc.

What is the best way to transfer documents, photos etc from one pc to another.

Old pc is XP and new pc has Vista.

Needs to be easy please.

Thanks

Use the files and settings transfer wizard (start>all progs>Accessories>system tools>files and settings transfer)

This will make a big file that you can save on your desktop with all your stuff in it.(Once you have that file on the new machine, you'll run the same wizard on that and it'll 'install' all your old stuff for you)

Then, it depends what you have available....do you have a wifi router for example?
A dvd burner on the old machine?
A large capacity usb memory stick?
Have you ever changed a hard drive?

You can also network the two and transfer it directly down a wire but if you've never done it before, you may need help setting that up.

Take out the old hard drive and fit it to the new computer which is quiet easy.

That way you will have everything.

buy an external hard disc copy files to that then attached to new PC and drag back down.

Some new PC's come with software to do this so all you do is hook old to new with a USB cable and follow instructions.

MAC works like that... as I found out too late.:blast

or take it to a specialist and they'll do it for you for a fee :thumb2

best of luck

You can use the transfer wizard that is part of Vista. You just need the transfer cable. You can borrow mine if you like.
