How do you capture a .wmv file?

Check to see if it's lurking in a Temporary Internet Files folder somewhere, Windows is good at saving all the things you didn't ask to save

Sorry can't help then ..... unless right clicking on the link offers a Save option

Look in your windows media file (from inside windows media player itself)....it'll be listed under a playlist like 'videos' or something......

Honest...it's there....Dani lost a video the other day in the same circumstances and that's where it was.

:)

You cant easily download a streamed WMV file. As the name suggests the file is streamed to your PC as you watch it without being saved.

I think there may be some software out there that allows you to capture it though, try a google search.

i think there's a good chance windows media player classic will allow you to save streams.

look here

what is WMV anyway? never heard of it.

at this point i decided to look it up. i found this:

Re: How can I save WMV file on Harddisk?

When a WMV file pops up automatically, right-click on the playing
movie, and choose Properties, which will give you the URL.

From there on, all you need to do is setup the URL as a
right-clickable link. An easy way is to type the whole URL into the
google search bar. If the address can't be found as a phrase in the
database, you'll get the following option: "If the URL is valid, try
visiting that web page by clicking on the following link:
www.*******.***/**/./**/******.wmv". Then all you have to do is
right-click and go to "Save target as..". Or just post/preview a
message in a forum, send an e-mail to yourself etc.

Another way to get a right-clickable link is to type/copy the address
into MS Word, then go to File->Web Page Preview (Word 2000) to get
the same link.

Alternatively, you could type the link into the Opera browser which
will download the file by default (probably, though I haven't used
any recent versions).

.wmv is Windows Media Video file.

.wma is Windows Media Audio

All designed formats for the Widnows Media Player.

And I've yet to find a 'sreamed' file that won't allow you ro right-click with the mouse and select 'save'.

It comes up with 'Cannot copy'!!

It's a clip of a TV programme - I'll get someone to vid the repeat.
