How do you check the coolant level ?1150

Forget checking the level, make sure you've got anti-freeze in it, it's going to be cold tonight :thumb

you can check it in the oil level window. coincidently, it looks just like oil :upyou

We at Superbikes are only to happy to check the coolant in your Gs ... we'll even make sure its firing on all four...

Of course you'll have to bring your own long stand and sky hooks...

I was expecting a muckle punch line

Never mind aye :(

Stupid boy :mmmm

Anyway shouldn't this be in The Scottish Forum :dabone

coolant level

dont take any notice of the chaps taking the piss, just make sure (for optimal running) that the crankcase oil seals are not leaking. It makes a tappeting sound on the left hand cylinder if theyre knackered.

While you`re at it check the tips of the rotor blades.

It's actually very easy.

I look via the remote therometer (probe in the garden) I have in the kitchen whilst I'm eating my brekkie. I have the probe mounted exactly at the mean height of the cylinder centres - air temp=coolant temp.

If you double the temperature reading and then divide by the number of pots, you can work out the coolant temp working on each cylinder. :thumb

Loads. By people wondering how stupid Forry must be for asking such a dumb fecking question :D

I wonder how many views it will get? :D

Into smartarse mode:

Surely the oil is, al least in part, the coolant - therefore checking the oil is checking the coolant level. Try running the bike without the oil cooler and see how hot it gets :D

Smartarse mode off

I never check the coolant as I can't be bothered removing the diagonal steam trap. It's a bugger to get back on without resetting the flux capacitor.
