How do you clean yours

I've had my GSA 6 weeks now but find cleaning the cooling fins awkward. Any good idea's.

Hi Weavo, I use a brush and hein gericke cleaning gel. spray on leave for a few minutes, soft brush and then rinse off.

I live i Hemyock, just up the hill from you, maybe catch a ride one day.

I wash the bike in the normal way, soap and cold water. After that I use a compressor to blow out all the standing water. Then apply FS365 or simlar. The compressor is great for all those akward place which this nike seems to have. Good in th summer aas well to get rid of the dust!

I've started using ACF50, spray it on, wipe it off leaving greasy residual. I washed my bike yesterday but did not use a pressure washer this time and noticed some of the fin at the bottom from of the engine still had some muck on them.

How much ACF50 do people use? It's hard attempting the wheels because of the tyres and discs - any ideas?

Stay the course

Just a towel and luke warm water to take some dirt off (cold water when I suspect there is salt on it), a couple of brushes I got from a motorcycle specialist for the cilinders, rims and last but certainly not least a good rubbing with WD-40 on the rims, metal parts (no brakes) and exhaust. Silver polish once in a couple of months on the crome exhaust and silencer. The windscreen is cleaned with a towel too with warm water, usually done together with the helmet.

Got my GSA in Febr. and always cleaned it the same way. Drove in October across the Amsterdam canals when a fellow biker stopped next to me and questioned if the GSA just left the dealer showroom or not. :D

Say's the man who doesn't commute 60 miles a day into the city.... :augie

Well, I'm not sure how far TS Weavo travels per day, but if you are implying that according to your standards I am the owner of a garage queen you are probably right. :D
Just 6k miles in ten months time.

But even with daily commuting, I would still clean the GSA once a week according to the mentioned procedure. Would there be more filth involved, I would stop at our tank station with high pressure water hoses for self service car/motorbike cleaning.

Clean? errrm...........errrr.....um:augie

:aidan

Mine gets a quick jet wash occasionally followed by a load of WD40. I gave it a real once over in the spring and it came up lovely with no corrision:D Just don`t look at the scratches:augie

Oh, it`s 2 years old, lives outside and has done 37k.

Wait until it breaks down then the dealer does it for you. Hey presto, good clean every 2 weeks:D

Every spring Spray/brush/sponge onto engine anything the missus has left in the kitchen cupboard normally designed for cleaning ovens, then jet wash the hell out of it, do 25,000 miles and then repeat next year. :)

What is this 'wipe it off' thing you talk about???

Drip dry, shurley?

Drip dry???? It will spoil the garage floor with loads of oily spots. Is there anything wrong with wiping of the residual? If you don't wipe it in it looks like it will dry with loads of drips and dribble all over!

Whats the difference between ACF50 and WD40? WD40 is cheaper but does it protect less?

I have just finished an evening class at the local college on motorcycle maintenance, the guy who was teaching it said he has used WD40 for years and it seems to do the job. Apparently WD stands for water displacement. ACF50 seems a bit thicker to me so maybe it clings on better?

My bike always drips after I hose it with ACF50 so I put it in the garage and cover the floor with newspaper. Then make sure its outside before you start it next time because there will be so much smoke you won't even find the door!
