how do you clean yours?

Not such a dumb question as it may seem - but, I'm fed up of replacing my sponge every other weekend 'cos the damn thing is falling to bits after getting snagged and torn whilst cleaning my beloved!
I've suggested she takes a shower instead but she prefers to be bathed!!!!
SO what do you guys use to keep the beast clean - it may even be something as daft as make / quality of sponge eh?
Ta in advance,
Sherpa;)

Muck-off and a jet-wash, keeps her sparkly clean.

But keep the jet away from wheel bearings and other delicate parts!

wallpaper brush

I use a wooden handled wallpaper brush - the wood is good because it doesn't damage the bike anyway and the bristles on the brush are stiff enough to get the road crud off. Get one that looks a bit like a brush from a brush and dustpan set . Works a treat and is especially good on the wheels and spokes. I still use a sponge on the tank and the screen.

Clean what?

In an emergency I'll use a nice gentle Wet Wipe ;)

Getting it clean!

I generally use a sponge for the nice shiny bits and when it comes to the spokes I have a bottle brush which fits nicely where the spokes meet, particularly on the back wheel.

Yeh! I know we use sponges but as I said, has anybody found a TYPE of sponge which doesn't fall apart after 3 washes due to all the little snagging areas on the bike?
If at first you don't succeed ! - give up asking!
Sherpa;)

Lambswool Mitt used to be good at standing up to those snaggy bits;)

Haven't seen one on the shelves lately though :(

Cleaning

Its a bit like cleaning your foreskin (sorry Liv) you do it lovingly and very carefully, sponge, flannel, whatever!

Give the old girl a good soaking first to loosen the dirt up and I use Johnsons Baby Shampoo, this stuff is brilliant you can splash it about and it doesn't sting your eyes, best of all it brings up a lovely shine to your hea.....oops.....paintwork. Try it on the car it works just aswell.

Never wash or polish in direct sunlight (am I teaching you to suck eggs here) and always rinse out thoroughly your leather.....leather what?......Chamois of course, and sponges should last a long time if you rinse them out well also.

May the Gods of hot water and cleanliness go with you....at least until it rains again or that bog catches you out.
