How do you get on with the indicators?

it's no worse than the two cars i own...

my MX-5 has indicators on the right stalk
my Hyundai Getz has indicators on the left stalk

oh how i laugh when i put the windscreen wipers on to turn left:D

i can't believe i actually found the horn button on my GS...... when i needed it!

damned near scared me to death!... i usually give a loud long blast of left indicator:D

how much

I don't know what all the fuss is about...it's not exactly taxing is it?

Hopped on the Honda last night (conventional indicators) then on the GS this morning. Yes two different ways of doing things, fancy that...I'm not exactly gonna have an "off" over it :thedummy

Well the deed has been done and I have ordered a red 650GS so I will soon be set up for touring. I think I will miss the Anne Summers effect though

As for other bikes: the Hypermotard has gone to make way for the GS. I loved the power and riding position and handling but it is no good for touring and we hope to be able to get out and about more this summer.

I still have the Monster. That's a keeper. I have done too much to it to get rid. I don't ride it much though, I prefer to stand in the garage admiring it.

There is another bike on the way too - I have always fancied a sports bike and now my knee has repaired fully and my riding is more confident I think I might be able to manage one. Watch this space.

Have a great trip.

Anne

Christ, you didn't hang around!! Welcome back to the club. Glad to hear things are a little easier, give our love to the girls and Mr Moody. In the meantime will do our best to keep up with the blog, and don't forget you can post comments.

I test rode a new 650GS a few weeks ago and nearly crashed it a couple of times trying to get the indicators working - it didn't help because the LH one wasn't working properly anyway. and it took me a few miles to realise it wasn't anything I was doing wrong.

So, if you are not used to a BMW or are used to the old 650, how long did it take you to get used to the new winkers?

If you ride another bike as well, how do you manage with standard indicators and the BMW ones? I am worried that I wouldn't be able to swap between my Ducati and a GS without making a pigs ear of indicating.

It's been 3 weeks since I had mine and I'm slowly adpating to the new layout although I must say while in heavy traffic, trying to avoid cars, people, squirrels, other bikes, swivelling my head like radar, my left thumb still automatically goes into indicator mode and ocassionally thumbs the horn whilst it's thinking of cancelling the indicators, I suppose 25 years of muscle memory effect takes awhile to chance.........

Riding my partners 800 today I found that if I pushed both indicator switches simultaneously, I got have hazard lights.

Most excellent
