how do you mount your sat nav?

I have a garmin montana 600 which i want to fit to the bike - cant seem to do anything other than grip it onto the ram arm from my garmin 26** mount

Where how do you do this properly? I see some people have theirs over the speedo, HTF do you do that?

For over the speedo you will need a Migsel ram mount they come up on eBay reasonably regularly

thanks greg - nothing at all its just its too low and i get a lot of reflection given the flat angle it needs to be at to get over the cross bar of the handlebars, i want it higher up if I can
I am using the cycle mount on the fatter section of main handlebar as the cross bar is too small a daimeter.
seen the image you have above 30 odd quid, but I really want it up top so to speak, say above the speedo?
still searchin.... migsel mount? i'll have a google!

I got some 25mm bar (aluminium) & drilled it down the centre @ 12mm, the diameter of the cross bar, hack sawed it into 2 halves, & used that to enable the clamp to grip the cross bar

That's the one

Simple/rigid and doesn't obscure clocks, when seated on bike and you can use whatever RAM arm you fancy to suit you.

Sits neatly against crossbar pad and provides enough view of the SatNav for me

Doesn't wobble like the MigSel mount did, with a heavier SatNav

Easier to remove when parked up to avoid sticky fingers

Above Speedo

Always had my Garmin Quest mounted above the speedo. When I decided to buy a Zumo 350 last year I used the same mounting position and holes but made a new bracket and this time I also notched the silver cover for what I thought was a neater position? - If you sell the bike without sat-nav you can easily pick up a s/hand cover!
Position is perfect for easy sighting - unlike the BMW bracket position on my K13GT which is on top yoke

wow, that bracket is fantastic! perfect placement for me as the bars are to near and its all a bit soft focus, where did you get that bracket ? or a home job. I really need one of those.

Ive had a Migsel on my 1100 for 4 years now - with the same zumo throughout. never had a problem with it. At the time it was the best solution as far as i could tell for the 1100. looks like you have more possibilities with the 1150. But I'm happy with mine - bought so long ago that i had forgotten how much it cost. 89€ eh? as far as farkle goes thats almost bargain basement. I guess if it was more 'obvious' then maybe people would be prepared to buy it. i mean.. who wants invisible farkle!!!

if you're at all concerned about reflections - I can heartily recommend a GlareStomper. very useful for most of the year - apart from in winter sunshine when the sun is really low and behind you.

Bracket

Yes, holes just drilled through fascia - I have no intention of selling this bike -but you could easily plug the holes with a couple of black push-in plugs? or sell it with bracket?
Bracket simply made from 1.6mm galvanised steel sheet then sprayed satin black - you could use stainless sheet. I didn't fancy aluminium as it would need to be much thicker.
Made a stiff card template first, then stuck that on the sheet steel and then cut/drill/grind as required. All fasteners stainless
