I know, this could go down hill rapidly, but why not.

Reading some of the threads on here recently there have been a number of chats about how people get on and off their mighty stead.

I recently switched from a TC GSA to a WC GS and I think the back ends a bit higher, I end up doing the most coveted of mounts known to bikers as the GS Hop, if not I take chunks out of the passenger grab rail or scratch the seat, with mi boots.

Come on then how do you get your leg over?

i get on and off it, from the left with the bike on the side stand :D

Unless I'm in a tight parking space, then with the bike on side stand, i stand up on the pegs and swing my left leg over the back and dismount on the right side...

Pleased you asked this as I wondered if I was bending my side stand by standing on left peg and swinging round.

Having my top box mounted in the pillion position means that I place the motorcycle on its sidestand, address it directly from the left hand side and perform a hurdling motion with my right leg to clear the seat and then rotate my hips and torso so that I'm sitting astride in the correct manner.

A gentleman should never adopt the ladylike manner of mounting his motorcycle by standing on the footpeg. :rob

If its on the side stand, I keep my left leg on the ground and swing the right leg over.

If its on the centre stand, left foot on left foot peg, hold both bars and climb aboard that way.

I have just changed from a TC to a w/c 2014 GSA and I find it easier to get on, must be a little lower I think.:thumb2

Well I thought this thread would go down hill fast but quite surprised.

I would love to see the hurdle Schtum, bet it looks as cool as the GS Hop, stick right leg over seat and hop towards bike.

So most stand on the pegs? On the TC never needed to but I have noticed the LC on the stand is more upright.

Putting ones full weight on the left peg whilst the bike is on the side stand is just plain wrong - it shows a totally lack of mechanical sympathy and fails all the basic tenants of health and safety :)

PS I use the hurdle method, as it clears the top box and puts no stress on the bike - totally fucks up my hips though :)

There are tenants in health and safety? How much is the rent then? Oh you mean "tenets"...... :augie

Instinctively I know you are correct which is why I keep checking my side stand. Would it help if I sign a disclaimer, wear a hi viz jacket?

Oi shorties.....!

I'm 6'5" tall, and casually stand to the left of the bike, raise my right leg over the seat, and lean the bike upright with my left thigh, having both feet on the ground.

Should I be looking to do a Frankie Dettori mount/dismount routine instead?
