I just had a big back-fire when I started the bike back up from a stop. I was 2 miles from home. The bike ran like crap.

I now see that the left side fuel Injector has come off were it clamps on to the rubber intake, that bolts on to the head.

How do you loosen that clamp. I have never seen a clamp like that before.

Thanks

Rick

Well. I got the clamp off and put the Injector back in. And put that pain in the butt clamp back on.

I have been running with the baffle out. I guess it's going back in now.:D

If you are referring to the throttle body and the big stainless clamping ring around the rubber, you can buy a special pair of pliers from most motor spares suppliers that grip the clamp and allow you to undo it or replace it. They are usually fitted to coolant hoses etc on engines in place of jubilee worm-drive type clamps and also to the CV joint gaiters on cars. I think it is called 'Ligarex' strapping IIRC.

I bought a tool for one from Halfords motor spares in the UK branded as 'Laser Hose Clip Pliers' and only ever used it once, but handy to have an not that expensive.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Adam,

I thought that there must be a bloody special tool for it.:D

I am going to get one of those. Is there a certain size 'Laser Hose Clip Pliers' that I need for that clamp?

Rick

Rick,
the tool I have is pretty much 'one size fits all'. Its one of those tools that hardly gets used, but is worth having for the one time you need it.

The brand name Laser is probably a UK brand of tool, but I'm sure you could source something very similar over there from a car repair shop.

Is there NOTHING on these bikes which is sensible.
Furfeckssake ... its meant to be an adventure bike. A bike which will take you to the far corners of the globe. And everything about it screams the opposite.

Unless, of course, you have one of your panniers filled with ring antennas, spare batteries and special tools.

I have undone and refastened them before just using persistance and a pair of vise grips. They aren't that difficult after the first few attempts, honest!

Dead easy, just modify a pair of old needle nose pliers with a hammer and angle grinder to form 2 hooks that fits the clamp.
