Talking about revs=speed :
1150GS --
at 4000 RPM ,speedo reads 85 MPH .
at 2500 RPM, speedo reads 55MPH

anybody else's wildly different to that ? .

just curious

According to the Sat-Nav steady speed readings, the 1150GS is geared for 20mph per 1000rpm.

4000rpm = 80mph true, 89mph indicated.

only took delivery of my new adventure on 31/07/04 - still running in - speedo reads 75 mph at 4000 revs

Snap, 6th is the tall economy type on mine.;)

Which one tells you the revs, I get lots of blobs after filling up at a petrol station then they dissapear one at a time.
Although when I leave home the other revo-meter thing won't have any blobs and the next thing theres four of them, does anyone else experiance this?

Sat nav shows low top gear as 18mph per 1000 rpm

4000 rpm = 72mph true, 78mph indicated (Alloys/different ratio drive fitted)

My 2000 1150 shows constant 18mph per 1,000rpm all the way through the rev range. 72mph @ 4k & 108 @ 6k.

I was very slightly disappointed when I bought the bike in May that it did not have the high (20mph per 1,000rpm) 6th gear but have come to appreciate the fact that I have a more usable top gear, better roll on acceleration in top & no need to change down.

What does the handbook say.....? Mine's in German so I can't understand it!

3000 rpm, speedo reads 70mph
4000 rpm, speedo reads 90mph
5000 rpm, speedo reads 110mph

and all this pulling a sidecar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting really good mpg as well (I really must get round to re-calibrating the speedo now that I'm running 15 inch wheels
:D )

Can confirm 2002 GS;

4000rpm is steady 85mph on mine!

I'd be interested to know what GPS real super duper speed is though!

4000rpm in 6th = 70mph true (that's with the Adv top gear). That's measured with GPS on a straight road.

Mike:)

GRUMPY LEE DID I JUST SEE YOU GETTING OFF THE BOAT IN CORK TODAY A YELLOW GS WITH SIDE CAR?

On standard 1150 gearing ('E' top gear), 4000 is near enough genuine 80mph. Achieved on a private test track, your Honour.
:D

According to GPS 4000rpm is 85 mph indicated and 76.7 actual !

Can't quite believe how inaccurate this speedo is!!

I hope not, as far I remember I was at work in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Although I would rather have been getting off the ferry in Cork :D

I know it's rather small, but that is my outfit as an Avatar. If I get round to it (and work out how to do it) I might post some photos on Show Us Yours
