Here's the rub,I've made the decision I'm having a new GS.

I've been offered one with everything the TE has with the exception of LED lights and tyre pressure readout.
I can have this bike next week, but I do know it was built in January, not sure if this makes any difference ? or I can go for a new TE £370 more but will have to wait until July.

If the new lights are streets ahead I would prefer to wait but as I haven't ridden the new bike in the dark I don't know,so for those who have, how good are they?

First time I've seen a blue one in the flesh, think that's the colour I'd go for :thumb

Steve, I can't give you the definitive answer you were looking for but can say
a) I love the daylight running light, the U shaped LED, it seems to show up really well during the day.
b) I have the full LED lights set up to auto change to dip beam when it senses the need and this works. I tried it last night after the Ocean 'do'. Basically it's just like on my BMW car i.e. apart from switching to main beam and back to dip depending on traffic I leave it alone.
Having said that, if you wait 'til sometime in July'ish for a bike with full LEDs you will lose 3 maybe 4 months of riding and to be honest, if it was me, I'd go for not losing the riding time and blue was my choice until the wife 'told' me to go for the red. The tyre pressure monitors are not really going to make or break your decision.

You never see your own headlight switched on so I bet you will forget which headlight you have within minutes of getting the bike. Go for the now.

no but you might want to know how much light it throws down the road though:blast

led lights

I don't think it makes a great deal of difference but the led lights seemed to be very much talked about when I was at the dealer on the launch.
It could have a bearing on the saleability when you decide to pass it on as some guys like their toys.:comfort

LED Headights

My test ride involved riding in Derbyshire at 10pm down back lanes with LED lights it was like bloody daylight absolutely brilliant . Needless to say my New GS WC has LED lights !!!!!!:JB

if i was buying a non led spec, you want it a lot cheaper than £300 off, there's a lot of this spec in dealers and there having trouble moving them for the asking price

Definitely go for the LED if you can wait, it's incredible:thumby::beerjug:

As good as a H I D or better would you say ?

General consensus if you read reviews for LED Vs Halogen/Xenon on the net is:

Xenon offers the highest light output if illumination is what you are after and riding/driving a lot in darkness, LED's offer the good looks, low power usage and typically fall between Halogen and Xenon for output, but with the Bright White Colour Temperature.

Basically Form over function.

Maybe the LED Headlamp with additional spots will give the best of both worlds.

I'd say it depends on how long you're planning on owning your new bike.

You could be a long time looking at your non-LED bike wishing you'd waited a few weeks. If you're only planning on keeping it a year or so, then it's less important.

Just about the the only advantage to buying a new vehicle is that you can have it specced to your requirement - you pay a huge premium for that choice and I don't think I'd compromise.

WAIT... Almost TE package but no LED. No thanks. Will lose value and you will most likely be annoyed very time you see those LED running lights on another's bike coming towards you. I would be. Anyway, better to get the TE package as that has a definite after sale price tag. Either way enjoy ...
