How good is the LED light ?

WAIT... Almost TE package but no LED. No thanks. Will lose value and you will most likely be annoyed very time you see those LED running lights on another's bike coming towards you. I would be. Anyway, better to get the TE package as that has a definite after sale price tag. Either way enjoy ...

Yep, the TE will command a premium over a non TE when the time comes to sell:rob But if you're keeping it for 10 years I guess it doesn't matter, unless its what YOU want:thumb

Plus - has the advantage of not attracting €200 fines in parts of the EU! :blast

Where and why???

It's OEM fitment not after market.

Could understand that if, I were taking it to the US, according to the advrider site the LED lights still don't have full DOT approval.

Which EU countries don't like it???

I think he means the HID will attract a fine:rob:thumb

Do both. Take the bike now and at the same time order one for july. Chop in the one you get now in july. Simple. :)

I'm sure the LED headlight is a lot better than the standard one,

And had I specced the bike myself I think I would have payed the extra for it, But thinking about it, I can't remember the last time I went out or arrived at my destination in the dark,

Sooo ,would it have been a waste of money

Another plus for the LED, is the auto activation when going through tunnels

I'd say it depends on how long you're planning on owning your new bike.

You could be a long time looking at your non-LED bike wishing you'd waited a few weeks. If you're only planning on keeping it a year or so, then it's less important.

Just about the the only advantage to buying a new vehicle is that you can have it specced to your requirement - you pay a huge premium for that choice and I don't think I'd compromise.

Mike

I bought the base model with heated grips and panniers - I can't get excited about gadgets for gadgets sake - the new standard headlight is more than adequate for night riding.

Bimbling up the A65 to an overnight in Ambleside (3 pints of Hawkshead bitter down and feeling quite mellow!) earlier this evening I met a few GSs heading towards Skipton, some OEM non-LED and two new LCs each with the LED running light. I had the sun shield down as I was heading into the setting sun and in these conditions, whilst the LEDs look very good and are visible, they are not as 'in your face' as the standard 'old style' lights. Now it's probably not a 'fair' comparison and the LED did attract my attention as it was 'different' but that's from the perspective of a bike and someone who is interested in other bikes...I just wonder whether the 'fairy light' effect of the LEDs is really effective in a 'be seen' sense? :nenau
