I picked up my 08 GS and was only given 1 normal key and 1 plastic spare !! Is this normal Guys ??? BMW Cutbacks 
When I picked my 08 gsa in june,I got 2 normal keys and 1 plastic key.

The garage has forgotten to give you one of your keys .. let's hope some muppet hasn't lost it and then give you some bullshit about only having the one regular key

I picked up my new bike three weeks ago, one new key and one plastic key, the other key was ordered and given to me on the first service.
I would check tho.

The second key is delivered separate from the bike, guess there must be some logic in that??? As LBL says you'll probably get it at first service.

You have not been "screwed" as the bikes arrive with 1 metal and 1 plastic key from the factory, the dealer should order a 2nd metal key for you.
It used to be you only got the metal and plastic keys but in the UK at least so many people complained (quite a few on this site as it happens) that BMW UK at least changed policy, not sure if it's the same outside the UK though hence the need to order it separately.

thats it, and if you say nothing thats all you get. if you complain, your dealer can order you a metal one FOC but, you need to request it.

When I picked the GSA 08 up 5 weeks ago they handed over 2 metal keys and a plastic one. I guess different dealers do different things.

It's one metal key and one plastic key in France right now. When I mentioned that in the UK it was possible to get a second key free of charge, the BMW sub sales guy looked at me like if I was coming from another planet...

I will retract my "screwed" comment and revised it with ..

I did not have to make a request to the dealer to order the key. Prior to you posting this thread, I did not know that you could get an instance where one regular key is supplied and you need to realise that you are entitled to two so that you can make the necessary request to obtain the second regular key"

Two metal and one plastic here as well, apparently officially you only get one metal and one plastic but most dealers order you a spare metal one as a matter of course when you order a new bike from them

Two metal and one plastic (Bahnstormer June 08) They did say BMW only supply one metal as standard.

I got one metal key and one plastic (wallet) key when I bought my bike.
It was only after finding out on this site
that I could get a second metal key free that I requested, and got one from the dealer.
Am sure there must be plenty of people unaware of this. Why do BMW not just give the keys with the bike in the first place
?

The comment I got from BVM was along the lines of:
"Well we only get supplied with one real key and the emergency one, but if a customer complains we can put in a warranty claim for the extra key."

"Right, I'll get the claim done for you. Should be with you in a week.
