How much fuel ? GSA

Ok, So there must be a post somewhere else in this forum, but why can I only get about 20 litres in the GSA tank and the bike fuel guage never has all the bars full? Ive tried twice now, and the fuel pump tells me 20 ish litres (from 2 bars from the bottom). Ive placed the bike upright to check and the bars are never full, with what seems a full tank of fuel. Im getting about 300kms (round town) per 2/3 guage tank...

So where does the rest of it go ? I want my extra 10 litres! ...even if I wont be able to lift it vertical

Do I have to drill the neck of the tank or something ?

The early 1150 GSA only had a 22 litre tank, the 30 litre tank was an option.

Try cleaning the electrical block-connector under the right hand side of the tank, beneath the plastic cover. This is usually the cause of 'missing' fuel guage bars.

Its a 2003...definately a 32 litre version. Its like riding a whale...

That may be difficult to find out...Im not the sort to want to push a 1/4 tonne machine to the next gas station all in the name of curiosity

You have to drill the filler cap to get the full 32 ltrs.

Bungee a gallon of fuel on the back, fill yer tank to the brim, reset your trip meter, ride till it stops! Use the spare fuel to get you to the next filling station!

you'll know then how many miles to the tank (never mind what the stupid gauge thingy sez) and how much it takes to fill from empty

I've ridden mine to 15 miles left showing, filled her up and she took 31litres. I don't think the fuel bar display is too accurate across a tank full, i.e half the bars is not half the tank but towards the low end it does seem more accurate, guess that's why the call them a guage and not an accurate!

...I guess it all depends on where your mum lives ?

Soooo...at the moment Im reading about 300KM on the clock from a "full tank" (not bad for a bike...my K12RS would have died at 230KM) with 2 bars left. Assuming that I should expect about 400-420KM on a tank, thats another 100KM to go!
Thats a good excuse to get away from the in-laws for the night

dont know what your worried about, just put in as much as it holds, ride your bike until you need to put some more in


people these days are just getting crazy

next they will want to know how much oil, how much air, how long how short, christ,



anyway, does anyone know where you put the air into the rear tyre, looked everywhere on the bike cant find a blow hole at all. i think its somewhere under the seat, but cant be sure as i dont know how to remove seat.

Noob you dont tell us which model of bike you have, how do you expect an answer, on my 97 1100 GS the blowholes are linked to give fore and aft balance, its canbus fluid is inserted via the nipple on the underside of the beak (Left side on UK spec models) Motobins or Sherlocks do adapter kits enabling the use of imperial canbus fluids (much cheaper)
Oh the pressures are 37-243 KpA cold ,with rider only.

Dont ask me, I know Stewart is standard on my bike, but yours may be different, I was fitted after the bike left the showroom

I think the 04 and SEs' were different though.

Mineral, at least until the EWS gaps stabilise, mine are fine with over 100k and I only ever use the mineral stuff, Timpsons or even Stead and Simpsons usually have it, and remember, if it leaks on the road it can be topped up with Buttercup Syrup, but of course flush the system when you get home, otherwise the paralever corrodes externally
