Hi all. Am on the lookout for my 1st GS 1100/1150. Having never ridden a GS or indeed a BMW of any description what should i expect in the way of vibes through the bars? Low frequency i can put up with having ridden Tuono's but high frequency buzz would drive me mad! Any thoughts much appreciated :beerjug:

Being fairly new to BMW GS's coming from a sports bike I can say my 1150 seems to be almost vibration free on the bars.
Having my handlebars apart for painting it would seem the handles slip on the bars over a rubber gromits which I think cancels the vibrations out.

A couple of things I haven't got use to yet is the clunky grear change and the low revs, My last bike was a RSV
But if you get one, the bike is so much fun in complety different way to a sports bike.

Have my 1100 for over 10 years , and I can say that I don't feel vibes through bars , clunky gearbox is usual , you learn to ride a GS and you don't notice it after a while , low revs is great but I have never ridden a sports bike as the bike don't fit my 6ft 5" frame . Plenty good ones out there so make sure you get best you can afford . A very late 1100 with the gearbox mods , but saying that mine is 95 and well pleased with it . Buy one you will love it .

Shouldn't be any buzzing or vibes.
But lots of noise in the way of clonking, banging and crunching with the odd wheeze every now and again . :D

18 months on my first GS which I swap between a few other jap bikes. So I do notice the vibeyness. But nothing through the handlebars. As a previous poster said they are damped. Plenty of vibes noticable in other places if you are used to an in line four. Seems they were built that way as everyone says the same things about them. Yep I have the clunky gear change and a few other noises. But its still a good bike.
