How much did you pay for a 6k service recently?

About to hand out £300

Is that about right? If so .. how much will a 12k one cost

Same as that John. About £150. + a free loan bike. I can't understand how these 6000 mile service variables come about?:nenau

Thats interesting, the 6 12 & 18 are similar to my experience however the 24000 will be for me with a 2 year annual check £400 ish,

I've been quoted £500 for similar work, when questioned about the difference it appears they change the alternator belt at 24,000 that must be one hell of a belt for £100, i'll buy my own for less than £20 and fit it myself.

It seems a regular problem these attempts at overcharging, of course there are differences in hourly rates and markups on consumables so you could expect a swing of maybe £20-£40 dealer to dealer, but on two occasions I have saved £100 by shopping around for the same product

Perhaps BMW Motorrad could anually publish a service price list we could use as a guide.

6000 Service price

Mine was £202 and got a loan bike. Asked for a schedule of what was done and the recommended time allowance. Eventually got schedule faxed through to me. Never got the official time allowance though.

Looking through it appart from software updates which I could not do the only thing even slightly more than basic was tappet adjustment. The basic items, check brakes, check side and main stand stand operation,Tyre pressures and change oil and filter...Stamp Book....Ahh Haa... Thats what must cost the money as the service items certainly don't justify the charge!

I have run my own car garage for the last 15 years and I would never get away with being so casual..... B.M.W. will have an official repair time. Why can't this be given. Its not up to the indivual dealer to make up ther own price.

Last Friday, 2 years old, so annual inspection, service, change brake fluid.
£320, JC Aberdeen.

They could have at least told me to bend over and brace myself

Went into my local Fiat dealer the other day. Big thing on the wall showing prices of all their cars vs mileage. Made interesting reading. Biggies for some cars at 48k, others not 'till 60k, even though the same engine.
But the price was up there, in the showroom, above the cars.
Crap cars maybe, but at least you know what to expect.
My honda lawnmower cost me more for its first annual service than my car will :)

I was pleasently surprised to pay only about 80 quid for my 6K mile/10K km service. Only oil and filter needed, so no other costs, pads etc. all OK.

That was actually cheaper that the 600 mile/ 1K km service... go figure that out.

But before you all get too excited my dealer is in Kuala Lumpur, so you my spend a little on fuel to get here :thumb

£500 for a 6000 mile service and 2nd annual inspection (don't ask). Needless to say I'm looking for a new dealer to take my bike to from now on.

I paid just under £300 quid from Battersea yesterday. I think we all see the pattern. Live in London, get used to it or move out.

They replaced the ingnition coil because the connector was broken (£47). This must have happened when I had an accident and repairs were done as insurance claim by Sudden Impact in Dagenham. :( someone had tried to glue back together.

The bike had been running rough for the last 1000 miles. Thanks to the Wales weekend that was only about a week ago:augie.

Rang SI this morning and talked to Russ the MD. He is sending me a cheque, no quibbles. :thumb2 We will see if it arrives.

Path.
