It's the way it's going for mint low mileage stuff these days. It's over priced, yes, but someone will buy it and never ride it in case they reduce it's value. It is the same in the classic car market. A shame but there you go.

Hi well having just joined the bm club, but have been a biker since 1962 will make a few comments of my own. I happen to own and sail myself a little old yacht value 1800 squid so not really an expensive hobby . BBut the biking scene reminds me of the posey yauchty one in that money flows freely for techy flashy s×××e stuff that does not get used. I traded in my old Vstrom for an immaculate 2004 1200 rs it is great apart from a little clunk changing into low gears.I can easily live with that. After living through family illnesses every day to me is a living not polishing day. Sorry for my little outburst and ride safe everyone

indeed theres more important things in life than polishing and having the latest stuff

it does cost a lot to get a really good restoration job done by a professional , maybe 10 grand for a show winner?

its satisfying doing as much of it yourself if you've got the space and a bit of knowledge

It's funny but looking back on my life perhaps I'm too hard on the farkle brigade . 1976 I was working long hours and got myself the p.r. version of the Duc 900. A lot of dosh then and after a ride to my dad's home town in Edinburgh in the rain I found it was more unreliable than my old velo venom at least that kept going in the rain. That and life in general taught me a lot. As the wife says ''its better to travel than to arrive'' well sometimes it is but we are all different my neighbour does a bit of biking but he spends most of his time on eBay looking for toys to hang on his goldwing , riding doesn't seem to figure in his enjoyment thingy.
Off up the A 68 today guys ride safe glad I'm retired

i personal think its stupid money for that bike

I thought Germany was still a source reasonably priced airheads. I know they always want top money for HPNs and the like but a close to standard PD with a leaky carb I would have thought a greedy person would try it on at 10k euros.

Airhead prices here don't seem that much different to the UK to be honest. Espesh once you take into account swapping them from L/h to R/H drive if you see what I mean. The K series bikes seem to hang on to their prices more here. I think bikes are cheaper generaly in the UK though. As always there are exceptions. Riding gear can be a bit steep here, I usualy nip across to France and get my kit there. Spares 50/50, get some from UK some from here. Getting stuff done here can cost you though, thats one reason (apart from therapy) I do all the stuff I can myself. My office Bud had two new tyres and the head bearings changed on a VFR750...........700€!!!!!! FFS. Did my head bearings at the week end for the cost of the bearings. Cant tell you how much I paid for them as they were part of the stash I have aquired over the years for ron (later on). I must get round to sorting it all out one day
