I`ve just bought a pair of couriers from gypsy :thumb & with them having a steel toe on the sole was wondering how sparky they are when dragging them on corners? Is it worth searching out titanium bits? I often touch a toe down on fast corners so the steel protection will be useful :D

Cheers

It`s not a steel toe as such, just a protector for the edge of the layered sole.

The metal is very thin, and the plate or screws will fail and fall off eventually, anyway.

Oh no :( I was expecting enough sparks & longevity to set fire to dry roadside grass & the accusation of having sparklers taped to my boots :D
Ah well! :nenau

Take them off 'before' your foot slips on the tarmac when you're backing up, cos it will :D

Speaking from experience? :D Luckily having long legs means I can get both feet flat on the floor for any paddling about of the bike needed :thumb I can even get them flat with the seat on high, an Airhawk fitted & it on the centrestand

Just as a matter of info, you can replace the Sidi toe steels with Alpine stars kit from prety much any bike shop...they cost the enormous sum of £1.99 or something equally stupid, and fit with a tiny bit of bending to alter the curve..so you can grind away .

PS if you manage to touch your toes down in corners, you must be riding like a knock kneed freak or something.....how can your toes be the lowest part of the peg/foot area?? :nenau

Knock kneed freak eh? :nono :P :D
I generally touch down the little toe area of the sole of my boot when riding as my engine bars touch before my pegs do so at least giving me an idea of lean :thumb
I did notice though when I test rode a 12 GS back to back with a 1150GS is that the pegs on the 12GS seem to be farther back, anyone else notice this? It might come to explain why my boots touch down soon, oh & having size 12`s too :D

:nenau Tell it like it is....no time for bullshit :D

Fair enough though....now he's described it ;) :thumb

I use my Steels caps a lot for touching the surface to feel what the grip's like when it looks odd......you know when it looks dark and shiny and it could just be flat hard dry tar or it could be oily?? Or when it looks like loose gravel but is just fresh and very very grippy???

Not totally reliable 'cos obviously things can change, but a toe cap down gives a good clue sometimes :thumb
