How tall are most GSA owners.

5'10 with a 33.5" inside leg. Shouldn't there be a "how long is your inside leg" thread?:D

Height has no influence at all, its inside leg, and that weird formula they use for leg arch thingy

29" seems to be the limit unless mods, subtle or otherwise or used.

Over 31" inside leg, and your just deformed lol :)

178cm tall with a 25 cm Bratwurst....just changed my GSA LC back to a standard GS LC very happy with it and so much more fun. Loved my GSA but at times a bit o a handful:rob

Bought 2013 GSA recently to replace a K1200LT.

I had always convinced myself I was not tall enough to have one and so admired them at a distance. Son bought a 2012 GSA last year to replace a standard GS, and I was surprised to find that I could get my feet on the ground, with the suspension set on solo rider; albeit only just.

Decided to change bike earlier this year and test rode a GSA, which I then bought from North Oxford Garage.

After buying it I had my son set the suspension as low as it would go and I got on with riding it.

I did find that, although I could get toes on the ground while riding solo I didn't feel properly planted. I just wasn't confident stationary. I was beginning to wonder if I had made a mistake and that a GSA was as unmanageable as I had always thought it would be.

Decided to try a lowered seat, and picked up a genuine BMW low seat on here.

Best £60 I have spent on a bike in a long time.

420 miles this weekend and totally confident about stopping now.

If in doubt, try a lowered seat. That inch or so makes a huge difference. Totally sold on the GSA now.

I'm 5'10" but with a 28" inside leg. 20 stone though but doesn't seem to lower it much.

Thanks to Sproggy for the seat.

6ft 3in 34.5 inside leg. Two artificial hips. Modified seat 2" added pivot pegz fitted.
On hindsight, would probably would have been better for me to have the seat modified higher at the front & lower at the back. GSA is becoming a bit of a handful. Weight wise, mainly due to having false hips. However, catch twenty two situation as I need the high seat height. Might have a look at changing to a GS LC later in the year. Mind you have been looking at the Versys 1000 ! A few mods & it may do the job ? :blagblah

At 5'7 I didn't even bother to try the GSA, went for the GS still thinking that it was going to be a very big bike for me but once you get used to it, it's grand!

For me, specially at the beginning, it wasn't a height factor it was more an intimidation factor. While my previous bike was pretty much as heavy (if not more), it was a cruiser so it was low to the ground which makes it more manageable or at least it gives the sensation of not being that heavy... with the GS, eventually I had the classic "slowmo-drop" while maneuvering over my garden's gate and I thought: - "That's it, that's the GS's new home... it's going to be there forever." But, following BMW's recommendations on how to lift them up with the handlebars, she came back up with almost no effort and it kind of clicked in my head that it was OK.

Since then I have much more confidence and learner to use the amazing balance of the bike to my advantage instead of trying to fight the sheer weight of the thing. At stop lights and everything else, with the normal seat on the low position I do the classic one flat-foot on the ground and the other on the back brake, after that... as you all know, the weight goes away :)

I'll be curious to sit on a GSA at some point, but I'm sure it'll be the low-low seat for me.

Cheers,
Rami

So, Ruby, has this fascinating list of heights persuaded you to:

1. Stay with with your bike

2. Start another thread entitled, 'How short are you GS Adventure 1200 riders?'

3. Stay with the higher seat

4. Go with a lower seat

5. Get raised heels and soles for your (probably) awesome Adventure mototocycling boots

6. Ditch the really stupid idea of wobbling to a standstill each and every time you draw your awesome - but soooo tall - steed to a halt, sweat breaking on your brow whilst schoolgirls laugh at you and wishing that you'd maybe sat on one, before you'd shelled out your hard earned readies and been sold on the whole foolish idea in the first place

7. Take holy orders and become a nun

5' 8 1/2" 29 inside leg, I like the low seat, I can get both feet down to manoeuvre, but the bike is still ok on the standard seat, it's just that little bit of reassurance. The one thing, is the low seat is less padded, so longer journeys need more frequent stops.

:blast

i am the same height as you. is it a gsa you are riding? what year of bike do you have also please

thanks
