How to change the BMW engine in a R1100 bike

Hi

My friend has a problem.
His R1100RS engine is totally broken because someone put some metal powder into the engine through the oil plug hole. Enemies.

We ordered a new engine from Ebay already.

Is there a thread of this problem.
How to change the engine.

Does anybody have some good new ideas how to do the job?

It's not really a case of changing the engine as everything bolts to the engine so it's a case of taking everything off the old engine and bolting it to the new one simples:blast

I know. :aidan

But how to lift off the rear frame and the front frame in one piece or at least together etc.
So you don't have to mess up with the loom and other items.
You save a lot of time by doing it this way.
In the link they need 5 men to lift those parts apart or assemble those parts.
Maybe I have to call some more friends to do the job with us.

"Save a lot of time by doing it this way" - What bollox, and a crock of typical american shite. 5 silly fecks involved for no time gain that one man can do in the same length of time .
The rear subframe pulls out easy enough with no electrics/loom grief, and the front end stays together with the loom and pulls off the engine.

Then remove all mechanical parts from the old engine, rebolt to the new engine. Replace the front frame with the electrics and then the rear subframe.
This into that, a quick tidy and ride it away.

Finally we made it this way today.
Used two ladders and a storeself.
Quite easy.
And I think the installation will be easy as well.

Well done mate - nice big garage you've got there!

I've got hooks in the garage ceiling but they won't support that much weight - that's a good idea
