I am getting confused with the care instructions for my C2 helmet's built in sun visor.
The sun visor should be anti-mist coated and according to the manufacturer, no detergents should be used.
I remember, even when the helmet was new, the sun visor was coated with something making it look stained.
As the old sun visor got broken, I have now ordered a new one, which, again came in sealed bag and looks stained.
Does anyone have experience how to polish the visor and not damage the coating?

I use a foaming cleaner spray by Wurth, and a clean duster.

The foam lifts the shit from the surface so it can be wiped away easily, without scratching the fragile surface.

I don't know if it's doing anything to the protective layer.....but it does work on my old (VERY OLD) C2

I've always had a problem cleaning the sun visor on my C3. Despite following Schuberth's recommendations I've been through 3 visors so far. Each time of cleaning has resulted in loads of micro scratches leaving the visor with a matt type finish and therefore useless.

This is with clean microfibre cloths and extreme care. It seems that if there's even the slightest bit of moisture on the visor that even the gentlest of touches with a cloth will scratch it.

If anyone finds a good method then I'm all ears. At £30 for a visor it gets very expensive.

Tried that too - same result unfortunately.

As I said in post 2.......try a FOAMING cleaner.

You spray it on, aerosol, and it lifts the dirt and grit away from the surface......

In detail, to clean a really mucky visor, I do it twice.......the first spray on I leave to foam up for a few seconds, then rinse off under running water......that gets rid of the bulk of the shit.

Then I repeat, but second time I use a soft clean duster to wipe off with.

I think the sunvisors are acetate or similar, and they are as such very soft.....even using two washes of foam, you will still get scratches, it's inevitable.

This method works as well or better than anything else I've tried though :thumb

Spooky - I tried to polish mine today with a plastic polish. No joy!! I remember Chris at Smartriders showing me how to clean it. He took it out, used a detergent and lots of water (could have been fairy liquid), then rinse and importantly, dab dry, do not wipe it or you will scratch it. Bloody fragile things......

SWMBO's foaming window cleaner and one of those cloths you get in a spec's case: minimal marks after years of using this combo.

How do you remove the sun visor? :thumb

IIRC on my S1 Pro, which I'll guess is the same as the flip versions,

Drop the sun visor to its lowest position, then gently pull down and forwards and it pops out of the lugs on either side. Fitting back is the reverse, which takes a fair bit off faff, and care not to cover it in finger prints.

Be careful

That'll give me something to mess about with :beerjug:

Be careful when putting it back. I broke mine that way. There is a small hook that clips in which snapped when I put it back.
Also, important is to put end of the sun visor into the gap which is in the hinges. It took me a while to figure that out, as it is not obvious from the instructions. Use a flashlight to have a good look at the part the sun visor clips in.:rob

Got reply from Schuberth

Hi everyone,
I thought I'll give an update and share the info I got from Schuberth.

"You can try to clean the sun visor under the tap with flowing, lukewarm water.

Then you can rub the sun visor bare-handed without any cloth."

I have tried this on my old sunvisor and interestingly, it works quite nicely. I feel that the antimist coating sometimes tends to attract dust particles and this simple wash gets rid of them.
