How to get rid of summat?

Hi,
my daughters laptop has something on it which tells us we need to get rid of a threat virus etc. to do this I have to register, which will presumably cost me, so I have'nt done anything. But I can't get rid of it.
Up to date Norton etc, so how do I get rid of it, assuming it's dodgy?
It's called Antimalware doctor.

It's some bollox from a company that wants you to buy it's software to get rid of supposed malware that they infect your computer with. Or something like that.
I use AVG, Superantispyware & CCleaner on mine. All free downloads and reputable.

Yep its a scam

a lot of the teen sites hotmail - messenger and lime wire free music downloads used to pick up a lot of unwanted crap and as sugested the CC (crapcleaner) free download is good scans the lap top and clears all the cookies etc and speeds the PC up.

Obviousley a good anti virus is a must with fire walls etc.
