I need to remove the headers on my 12GS but would be fine to leave the Lambda sensors still fitted - there's what appears to be a plug connector on the underside of each cylinder but try as I might I can't separate them :blast Is there a simple technique I'm missing, or do I need to remove the Lambdas from the pipes?

You could unscrew the sensors on the headers but they are pretty tight and you will need a 22mm spanner. Be careful as they will twist the sensor wiring a few times but it's doable.

Having said that, the conectors come apart very easily. It's hard to explain but they are just clipped together.

the conectors are a pain in the arse to put it politely but they do come apart like sgt bilko says, it is worth getting them apart and loosening the sensors when the pipes are off the bike.

Big thanks :thumb2
I managed to separate one of the connectors .... correct, a real PITA! I'm only removing the manifold to get better access to the front casing - I need to address the usual corrosion problem. Hopefully I can leave the sensors in the pipes!

Thanks again.

Change the headers while they are off. Then you can access cover more easily next time :)
