Hi, I was looking at my bike the other night and noticed some dirt on the gear selector rod. Wiped it away and the washer /plastic bush according to Real OEM just crumbled. Fair do's. So I want to replace it. I have the part and tried tonight but couldn't figure out how to remove the selector rod from the ball socket to place the washer on. Number 10 in the image closest to number 3. selector.jpg
I bought 2 anyway and thought I may as well do both. Anyhow, I removed flappy valve servo motor, left foot peg and gear lever and managed to get close to the thing but it needs to go between the ball and socket, but for the life of me I couldn't get it to release. I didn't see or feel any safety clips (11) as shown in the picture. Does number 11 clip anything in or just hold what? ? The nut and the ball just rotated freely. I guess the nut must unscrew ? Ideas please? Access to number 5 was awkward so thought surely you don't have to remove all that just to split the ball and socket?
Any help appreciated. Cheers

The clip No11 needs to be removed from the rod.The long downward pointing bit sits in a hole in the socket keeping the ball inside. You need to first swing the clip away from the rod, it sits in a recess. Then pull it upwards away from socket.the assembly will then come apart :thumb

cheers, will give it a whirl when next I feel like using 1 finger in a recess! bloody awkward space to get to. Cheers

all done, this time it only took 20 minutes for both bushes! Easy when you know how. Had to probe and push to find the swivel pin lock though. Cheers all
