I have been useing Howard leight ear plugs,I purchase them from motorcycle shops they cost about £2-75 t0 £2-90 for 3 pairs in fancy packaging.Today i was in ARCO the industrial suppliers, they sell the same ear plugs for 28p per pair or 100 pairs for £22 hope this helps users of HOWARD-LEIGHT ear plugs,I have no connection with ARCO only as a customer

The market for "safety equipment" is fickle. Industrial demand for products such HL earplugs is such that bulk suppliers such as ARCO can be very competitive on supply costs.

The HL "max" is an excellent earplug with one of the highest SNR (standard noise rating) on the market for any earplug. Mind you, quality of fit is also essential, as poorly fitted earplugs may only offer as little as 2 - 5 dB(A) attenuation. The HL, well fitted, can achieve up to 30 dB(A) attenuation.

Good tip.

Bugger ....... SNR = single number rating.

Sorry - I know this stuff but I have a heavy cold and my medication is kicking in.

Arco aren't even the cheapest, either. - have a hunt around.

Someone once asked me what plugs I used ------- "The ones that I get free at work are good"

Al :D

HI ADAM
THE EAR PLUGS I BUY ARE THE "HOWARD LEIGHT QUIET"EAR PLUGS NOT THE LASER -LIGHT,THE "LASER-LIGHTS "ARE MADE OF FOAM WHILE THE QUIET ONES ARE MADE OF LATEX THIS IS WHY THERE IS A VAST DIFFERANCE IN THE PRICE,CAN I SUGGEST YOU BUY ONE PAIR OF EACH TO TRY BEFORE BUYING 100 OR 200 PAIRS

Recently, I found that the foam earplugs would not roll down and hold the small shape long enough for anything - wondered was it the heat, but I am looking forward to getting the silicon ones which hpefully are waiting at home....
