an interesting quote from today,s more crap now. MCN. dr diess,s main area of concern is the new hp1 enduro single. he said, the new enduro will be around 30kg lighter than the current F650GS, but it will not replace it. a lighter weight is always an advantage, it,s easier if you are not so experienced. btw, dr deiss is the man in charge of bmw so he should know.

I really hope they put some efford in us a bike that handle the dirt better than the Dakar. I will follow this one closely :thumb

Single? Don't think so.

I heard the new addition to the HP range, the HP1, may use the Aprilia 450 vee-twin power plant.
There are some stompping 4 stroke >500cc engines now and I'm looking forward to seeing the HP1, but I hope the present 650 single donkey is not the answer to BMW's which engine shall we use question!
Believe me, if they get the engine choice right for the market's need (ie.not just make a 'bling' bike for flash 4ker's to blat around our city's streets),I'll be the first to buy a light Jap or KTM threatening machine able to handle some challenging off road grief.
Ten years ago, Honda bowled us over with the XR400R so it would be nice for the Germans to produce a lighter, more powerful bike, with such a power curve that the pilot doesn't need to be a top moto-x rider.
I'll hang on to my Y2K DRZ400 for the time being, which replaced my '97 XR4 that was abused all over Europe without a glitch. The money is burning a hole in my palm though. T.

I build my own Hp1.

It is a Ducktaped edition because the plastics parts are that expensive

from what i have been able to gather while searching the net, the new bike will use the rotax built 650 single but the bike it will be used in will definetly be more biased toward,s the dirt rather than the road, also being lighter and having a somewhat tuned and tweaked engine .after all the f650gs is not being dropped from the range . the aprilia 450 motor will most likely be used in an aprilia or cagiva badged machine.

Home grown.

Nice job oossie.
Do you have some good unsurfaced roads, Green Lanes we call them, over in NL? Those tyres look agressive enough.
T.

I only drive unpaved roads and in the dirt and yes we have some greenlanes.
This autum i hope to drive some official Off-road trips hope i can catch up the enduro guys.

This sunday we train at Bilstain, its a endur park awesome :bounce1

Every wednesday i drive with a little group (ktm, drz etc) outside Almere on a new indutrial ground. Sahara like sand, there you have to give some throttle :D

Yes the tires, bridgestone gritty and rear a Trelleborg Motocross. this gives you the grip you need.
I had also a bridgestone gritty on the rear, but on the tarmac it has worn out :spitfire
I love those Bridgies, i get the feedback from them i want

I guess (hope) the HP1 won't be an competitive enduro machine, so I hope they can design it with a reasonable seat height, for us short arses :D
