Hello and help required relating to my HP2 Enduro .
My Enduro has run fine and no problems over the last 1000 miles since purchase.
However, the bike when parked up ,it has more of an acute lean angle than I would like.
I think the side stand has been bent or shortened by the previous owner . Therefore, can anyone measure their side stand and I can therefore carry out a comparison.
Incidently ,my side stand measures 17 inches from pin to Touratech plate
Thanks

You can alter by simply cutting the stand, welding a big nut to one end and some matching threaded stud in the other, use another nut for locking and hey presto you have a strong adjustable stand :)

Whilst a great idea that doesn't sound simple to me - simple would be leaning the bike against a wall and being done with it:)

Thanks for the suggestion, but what's the length of the standard side stand

To add to my problem of the side stand quiry.I perhaps should have said the bike is fitted with Ohlins which I am will effect the angle of the lean whilst stationary.

Side stand

An excellent idea !
Sometimes I like like to photo my bikes in this pose. Alas, where there's no walls I'm back to my acute angle lean which is not so photogenic but practical.
Ive also thought about carrying a small piece of wood on my travels to support the bike!

I will measure mine in the morning for you :thumb2

One question though - are you referring to the lean when the bike is on the SM rims or the dirt rims? There's a big difference between the bike on 21/17" wheels, compared with 17/17" wheels.

It's not the length of the side stand, it's the alloy bracket bent that holds it... you can get an upgrade from bmw which is steel... This will sort it

I wasn't aware the upgraded OEM bracket changed the angle... I bought a Woodys Wheel Works bullet bracket before BMW issued a new one, and that was designed with a change in the lean angle.

sidestand bracket

This is a well known problem with the hp2. The replacement steel one from bmw is a warranty replacement. I have the woody's unit. A very nice piece of work. I wasn't aware the bmw bracket had a different angle then the original one. Richard.

First of all thanks for your interest .
Regarding rims ,I can add tyre size , which is 90/90.21 /140x80 ,I believe these are standard.
I would appreciate your measuring your stand as I suppose this is the first point to start with.
After that I would consider the holding bracket that you referred to.
Incidentally , I did remove the centre stand but without able to judge how correct it was I put it back.
However, I've had a few GSs /gs80 /2005/ 2014 but this incarnation to me is Five Star!

I shall check with my local BMW dealer later today
This seems to be a common issue with ownership of a Hp2e
Thanks for your comments

Hi Mav
Again thanks for the interest in my problem.
Maybe I could post a photo of my bike in lean mode if so how do I do this ?
Thanks

Sorry slip of my tongue
(It was in the middle of the night)
Side stand of course
Thanks for your response so quick .

I've just looked at Woodys site regarding their products and that could be the answer to my problem.
I need to check first with Main BMW dealer regarding new replacement parts that might be available.
Thanks for the lead , yesterday before I came across this site , I was guessing .Now ,with help, I'm slowly learning

Just measured my stand - it's 15 inches or 38cm long, measured in a straight line.

It may well be that your mount is bent... Maybe post a picture showing how far it's leaning over?

Following your suggestion, I have booked the bike in for a new steel replacement support for the side stand.
Will post following fitting ,many thanks.

Thanks for the measurement .
Id better re measure , as this morning my local BMW said stand looked ok except for alloy support bracket.
They also mentioned HP2 are pretty rare machines.
