Has anybody fitted HP2 head guards to a 1200GSA,they seem to have an extension that covers the throttle potentiometer.if so are they a straightforward swop, and how much are they to buy.

I've seen some on a normal 1200,so they should go on an Adv(Guessing that the bloke on the standard 1200 hadn't spent half his life altering them)

Hi John,

I've seen some photos on the ADVrider forum. I believe a small mod is necessary because the throttle position sensor on the HP2 has the connector on top and the normal 1200 GS/GSA is on the bottom. A heat gun will do the job so I've read. Any BMW dealer can tell you the price.

Greetings, Tom.

Yes easy swop - I took my ADV ones off almost straight away as I new one tipover and they would look shite - have kept them for when I resell so all looks cool! The LHS gaurd is quite close to the crashbar which needs loosening to fit but they do fit and look great. The LHS one is also close to the TPS but will flex away or can be easily tweaked.

How much £?

Have any of you Guys priced up standard ADV Guards and/or HP2 ones?
What are the HP2 Guards made of?
Any pictures would be of great help.:thumb2

Head Guards

Hi Guys,

Before you all go rushing off to fit HP2 plastic guards to your GS's, thet may look ok but they don't infact protect much at all.

the guards do a decent job of keeping your boots off the throttle body but at the first gentle 'off' they will rip of the head and scuff-up the rocker covers.
I went through two sets of the plastic guards before ditching them for some Carbon covers. Much more expensive but they work.

As for protecting the throttle bodies, the metal guards sold by Touratech (part 044-0404) do a very good job and look good.

Just my thoughts.....

Cheers, Rick.
