Stuck in SE Asia.....Thank you Covid 19
My front light on my HP2 is smashed and I need a replacement. Has anyone found a simple more effective replacement?? If not I'll just order one from BMW and fit that. I was sure there was a thread on headlamps but I'm buggered if I can find it using the search. Any ideas of cost as well knowing BMW it will be a wallet tickler:(

Many thanks in advance

I've also looked about for head light replacement. not due to damage but more cosmetic.
I like the touratech twin lamp one but its a million quid. I also looked at acerbis masks but they fasten to the fork legs so would need to move the clocks as well i think. I also thought about experementing with the megamoto lights but god knows how much they are.
still searching for the answer, let me know if you come up with anything.

I've not been very helpfull have I!!! sorry, Its late and I'm on nights.

I ended up going with the BMW replacement when I smashed mine - I think it was around 150-200 of your hard earned :(

In terms of replacements - the original is actually really quite powerful and I've become accustomed to the look of the retro headlight... There are some rather serious looking Baja units some of the US guys have been experimenting with - but I'm a long way from entering those sorts of events!

PS: Get a headlight protector :rob :D

I have gone with the Holan Headlight Protector and Crashbars. Bought it last year sometime and only fitted it about a week ago :)

Good quality stuff and well made. A picture of Holan's website with the crashbars and headlight guard.

Thats what I feared.... I'm more than happy with the output of the current headlight and the looks it was more the figures you quoted above...well boys and their toys and all that.

By the way Phil Gunn has a neat headlamp unit he has fitted himself that I saw at Tipp last year.

Anyway thanks again.

Touratech twin headlight

I was in the TT event couple of weekends ago,

They had 2, twin headlight units unsold that they where trying to sell.

Something around GBP 400 - I did try to "hagle" but my budget was only GBP 200 and they wouldn't sell below their cost !!- ..

may be you can call TT and speak to Neil (the chap to know's what is going on around the shopfloor) have blag yourself a bargain... -

good luck,

that blue headlight above looks like an xt600 or wr450 one. Pretty cheap. £40 ish new. Not amazing light output though.

Well ordered one today and I can get the glass part only but thats still £104 + Vat:( I have a headlight protector somewhere but seem to secal it doesn't fit with the Puig screen on, I'll investigate further.

Thanks anyway guys:thumb2

I've mentioned it before, but have you tried the breakers?
I got a complete headlight for £50 :thumb

I did look at motobins but to be honest there can't be many HP2 i breakers. I was hoping for someone to say that the 150mm retro light set from Busters at £6-99 is a straight swap:augie

Ive smashed my lens twice.
1st: I replaced the first time with original BMW part.
2nd: Quoted #200 to replace hear in AUS.

Only the lens is broke, so what I did was go down to the local car parts store and bought a replacement h4 5 3/4 inch light for about #8. The light lens is the same as on the hp2 but the mount is different. So I cut the lens out of the lamp with a sharp knife, carefully separating the lens from the body. Its held on with silastic. I then removed the glass from the hp2 light and reglued in using sikaflex.

Works as original.

Alternative

I use a headlight unit from a 450 husaberg, had it for over two years and survived numerus crashes (Ref. last years big bike chalenge Blez's blatherings) It can be fited/revert to original in les than ten minuets , costs 4 cable ties each time. Pased the M O T no problem , uses original wiring (no mods) no problem with CAM BUS. I baught mine from Melvin at SS Racing He says he can still suply in Blue at around £40 if you brake the lens a replacment will be about £17
