Save ya money dude and buy a well built, reliable Jap bike!

I've had more trouble in 3 months with my HP than I did in 3 years and 37k with my old Gixxer 750....Not good!

Iv'e had less problems with my HP2 over a year than I had with my reliable Japanese Africa Twin in three years so what is your point :D

Thats the message I got loud and clear from quite a few people after briefly deciding to take the plunge and before seeking the advice of people more mechanically switched on than me.

25.000 kms and never missed a beat. Not surprising - never got stranded on a Beemer sofar and I've done around 350.000 kms on them sofar. No FD failiure, nothing. Needed a new exhaust for my RT at 100.000 due to lots of city traffic and a new ignition lock. That's all.

my hp2 has 11500 km , and never had a singlr problem till the night before a was ready to go with friends for a nice alpin enduro ride .
500 km of track on the mountains , between italy and france .
pop !!!!
the rele of ingnition stoped to work suddently at a service station .

i did n't miss the ride , which i did with my WRF 450 . wunderful.

after this failure I asked to BMW service , how reliable are these bikes !?
generally they are good , compared with the street bmw ! thats what he said .
but n real teerms can I afford to go in my annual African solo trip ?

better not , off the beaten roads , no Europe assistance .
forget the tracks .

the weak points he said are :
1 EWS antenna
2 switch off side leg .
3 ignition rele.

despite this I am in love with this bike .
but rater doubtful to use it in africa .

ciao renato

Almost everyone one here with 'the sauce' has had more than a few problems. Make no mistake, I do like the bike and how it rides, but there are some pretty stupid issues with it that really shouldn't be there, especially for 12.5k.

I really find it unacceptable that a bike under 12 months old has been back to base 5 times! Christ only knows what else would have gone wrong with it had I have ridden regulary hard off-road as it was intended...:mmmm

Having my forks replaced next week, when it rains the left indicator light on the dash starts flickering so something is getting wet somewhere. Besides that still love the bike and hope to keep it for a very very long time.

There is really nothing irregardless the niggles out there that puts such a big smile on my face. Recently took a friends KTM990 for a ride and what a beast, everything is pretty smooth and simply a great ride. Was very happy to get back on my tractor afterwards again though. Just my weird taste :D

Snap - I have that same problem! wierdly, doesn't seem to affect the indicators themselves.

Also feel the same way about keeping the bike :bounce1 I just bought a GSA to stop me putting 20k miles a year on it from commuting.

Mine has to be the biggest pile of shit I've owned to date, and it's getting worse!

It's going in next week and I will be seriously inquiring about handing it back to BM and the possibilty of some compo!

I think the bad press they are receiving at the moment is just deserved. This is my last Beemer!..:spitfire

I can't believe I allowed myself to pay 12k for it, I must have been off my feckin head...:o

I had a lemon of a 1100GS like that a few years ago, was driving me mental. Sometimes it is better to just let it go and try something else. Once you lost confidence in a bike it is game over.

I went from BMW to Honda, never ever again :eek  Now there was something that just drove me nuts over 3 years. Best of all it never gave me any problems :D

Luck of the draw I guess. It's the third beemer I've had, 1150adv was shite but the 12adv was a peach!

Might go back to a Gixxer 750...:bounce1

hp2 problems

I am over 20,000 miles now and I had to charge the battery once................that is it. Juast ride and smile........so far.
