Hi chaps, ive had a spanner thrown in the worx, the k13s i was having will now not be here in time for my trip into spain, and sitting in the dealers shop is one hp2s (brand new) and im really thinking of buying this bike now but im alittle worried regarding a few things so maybe you guys can clear this up, tbh i dont ride much here in the uk due to work however if i do its only the odd day out, and as i got the euro bug many moons ago this is where i ride the most, this year ive toured on my k12r tbh its too naked and now its been sold, and thought id have the k13s and stick my bst rims on that! however looks like it aint happening now and sticking with the bm theme thought id try a HP2s so!

what miles have you been getting to a tank full!
Do you find the bike comfortable! and what sort of miles have you been riding in a day(non motorway routes) !
Ive seen the little tank bag i wonder if any peeps have tried to fit a normal sized bag!
Are there any luggage options (ventura rack) .
whats it like for using oil!

Please feel free to offer any advice related to the hp2s

Cheers Dave

there's a few people who tour them do a search on the HP2 section:thumb2 there's a chap who commutes on one and I think he's got luggage fitted looked abit like r1200s but more cool.

Cheers guys

what miles have you been getting to a tank full!

Max. 200 + or -

Do you find the bike comfortable! and what sort of miles have you been riding in a day(non motorway routes) !

It´s not a GS or anyting like that, but it's not unconfortable... depends on the rider :D I travel always in small roads and prefer off road trips, the max per day i made its 850kms in Western Sahara atlantic route (tarmac)

Ive seen the little tank bag i wonder if any peeps have tried to fit a normal sized bag!

I do not like or recomend tank bags, specially in this kind of bike (enduro-trail)

Are there any luggage options (ventura rack) .

I adapt The Touratech luggage kit to 2X 30 panniers and it´s perfect for a trip.

whats it like for using oil!

At my biggest trip on HP2 I made 6000kms, from Lisbon to Guinea, I had to put 300ml of oil to level it.

Please feel free to offer any advice related to the hp2s

Well if you need a bike just for travel in tarmac, HP2 it's not your bike, but if whant to do a lot off road trips, it's the best bike in the world:thumb2

:comfort funny looking HP2s must be a streetfighter version! LOL

Nah, that's the proper, original and best HP2..........................the Megamoto and HP2 Sport are crap imposters created by the BMW Marketing machine to convince you to buy one:rolleyes: ........................and they couldn't be bothered to think of a new name

200 + or - miles to a tank full what are you doing pushing it most of the way?

in and out of london I get if I'm in hurry...:augie 70miles to a tank full if I'm not in a hurry 100 max 120 miles and I've drilled the filler neck

I've now fitted a 23 litre tank I got fed up with filling up every five minutes...:blast

Touring HP2

Last year i did a trip to the Alps on my one. Did 700 motorway miles in one day!

First thing.....fit some sort of screen

I was getting about 100miles to a tank of fuel, which was enough before i wanted to stop for a leg stretch.

I also took a 2 litre TT oil bottle and put fuel in it as a reserve/peace of mind

As for comfort, i actually liked the seat and find it better than my GSA saddle:confused:

Tank back on tank and tail pack on rear....sorted

Other than that, nothing else needed

:blast sorry mates, I did not read the S after the hp2:hide
moderators please clean this mess i made :(
here in Portugal miles are diferent :pullface we call them kilometres and are almost half of your miles :aidan

I ment 200KMS:blast

cheers:beerjug:

I got back 2 weeks ago from 8 days in the Dolomites on my HP2 Sport. I used a Kriega 35 litre rucksack for my kit which was quite adequate, plus the little HP2 tankbag for bits and pieces. We only used 2 hotels so I only had to use the rucksack for the ride from the airport (we had the bikes trucked over to Brescia) to hotel 1, the ride from hotel 1 to hotel 2 and the ride back to the airport.

I wouldn't have wanted to ride every day with the rucksack, even one as good as the Kriega so if you're travelling every day the HP2 Sport may not be for you.

As for your other questions:

Tank range - about 140 to 160 assuming you're not going mental.

Comfort - the HP2 is very comfortable IMO. I did 1,360 miles in the week and have done over 4,000 since the middle of March.

Doesn't seem to use much oil. Have not needed to top it up since its first service at 600 miles.

Thx zzrman, i used a Kriega on my last trip end of may not sure if it was for me, being small i found it pulled on my shoulders and gave me ache after 200 miles, i think it was the 20L! and i got a little fed up taking it off at every coffee stop however i noticed the 35L has a different chest strap so maybe this allows the weight to be taken off the shoulders!

Thx Dave

hp2 touring

You can tour anything anywhere. Just have fun. There are people who have ridden honda 90's around the world. Don't limit yourself. I tour my hp2e every year. Richard
