What state are your carbs in?

I just noticed that your bike was unused for 5 years. Was it stored with the tank empty? If not your tank will be full of horrible deposits and the tank and the petcocks will need a thorough clean.

Have you thoroughly cleaned the carbs and replaced the float valves? If they are not new they could be sticking due to a varnish effect from old petrol. You may get away with cleaning the old ones, but I would replace them.

The fuel issue is something I experienced prior to the lay up. I want to get it sorted before I get back on the road. Yes tank was empty when standing. Float valves have been replaced in the past, but I will check them again as part of the resussitation process.

Mine is somewhat similar and ive done the carb thing with all new parts, tuned balanced etc. Pulls like a bloody train but still dies at around the 90 mark.
Now to throw in another thought. Timing. I am now thinking that my timing might be a bit out which presumably cause the same sort of feeling. Will try that next. Whatcha think

Yes dont normally do this of course but I know the old girl would normally sail up to the ton, so something is not quite right

Float valves

Hi

I am a fair weather biker and mine is laid up generally from November till March. Even with the float bowls drained the rubber tips of the float valves harden. I find I get either float valves sticking closed or dripping carbs due to leaks at the float valve until I clean the float needles. It doesnt take much to clean then, I usually rub the tips with a piece of clean cardboard.

Might be worth a try.
