Just ridden back from the Manchester bike show which was not that great for £12, if you a re thinking of going. Anyway took the twisty lane route on the way home and ended up having to do 60 minutes of de-salting and de-crudding of the bike. Not that that is a problem but do any of the huggers out there actually make much of a difference? I did like the look of the new Pyramid one until I read it does not fit with any of the popular tyres, idiots! So, any ideas, suggestions?

Oh, whils't on the subject, are fender extenders worth it?

The fender extender I had did some good but was far from perfect. As for hugger I took the alternative route as described below and that worked pretty well.

Just did a search and found the reviews for the wunderlich inner fender thingy which sounds like it fits the bill prefectly. And they just reduced the price as well!!

What about fender extenders though?

Fender extender is worth having as it will keep most of the crud of your front engine cover

I think the Ilmberger mk2 hugger may be worth looking at, had one on an 1150gs, and that worked well.

Bought the Wunderlich inner fender a couple of months ago.
Easy to fit, looks good, and does a good job of stopping most of the crap getting all over your boots and legs. Not sure how good it is with pillion on.

Extender Fender- For the small cost of one of these, There worth every penny.

I will probably go for the Wunderlich Internal Fender instead of a standad style of hugger. I also want to gat a fender extender although there seem to be quite a few options out there. I notice the Wunderlich one seems to be a little narrower at the bottom and has quite "funky" styling compared to the one that Nippy offer. Pyramid also offer what seems to be just a plain style option. Anyone know if there is much of a difference? The prices are all pretty similar.

But put the bolts in with screwlock 'cos I didn't and it all went a bit pear shaped, so to speak.

Also I found the Mudflap on the R1200gs website really good at keeping my heels clean

Jean 6 from Nice in France made a cracking Hugger / Rear MudGuard and Published all the Instructions, Dimensions etc, with Really Good Pictures a while back. I saved his post to my Favourites but can,t fathom out how to show a link to his post and the Search Facility can,t find it either. Have a Search yourself and see what you can come up with.

Years ago, , ISTR somebody here posting a pic of a Vespa front mudflap fitted to a GS. Cheap as chips on eBay. Looked like feck-all but worked a treat, apparently

If you want to keep it clean leave it in the garage! Come on.......really how much do you think you are going to do by sticking a little cover over the wheel?

Anyway, cleaning is good therapy!

Probably not that much but anything is better than nothing. For the small cost of an extender it's not exactly going to break the bank either.

As with all things they look nice when they are clean, but i have found the ilmberger (spx10!) to be pretyy useless when its really crappy weather and its just another thing to clean. Current policy is to leave it dirty...looks kind of cool...in a dirty sort of way

It is one of those bikes that tends to suit that dirty look.
