hy I'm ricardo,a guy from california....very much into

lowering the GS

"I carry more or less anything, reason why I "ghetto" the bike really low (about 4" lower) so I can flat foot when need to."

What did you do to lower the GS?

My only complaint is that I can't flatfoot my GS but would like to be able to without sacrificing handling.

cheers,

Barry

sorry Barry I did not see this before..

First of all I'm 6'2"(185 cms) so touching the ground is not a big deal,,let see,,big difference the 17 inch wheels(I have them from 97" when they release the K12,,actually from a Crash demo bike before they were public to sell)that prop it about a 1" (I did put a spacer on the front short to compensate for the head angle change
15893-M-1.jpg

then I made the seat out a "Spenco gel" a medical product that let me drop the seat about 2" with out any detriment in confort,,actually is far more confortable,,but fetures many problems, for example you can not really buy it(Unless you have a conection)cost a ton of moneyabout $300 for a 48"x48" piece by 1" thick.and is almost impossible to contain and or Cut.

that is more or less all I did but you can do much more if you want to(will diminish clearance for sure and make the bike handle kind of Funny.
you can use R11R shocks if you have a R11GS(be carefull is to typesthe pre 98 and the after 98 rear shocks, the front are all the same) and you can use R1150R shocks if you have a R1150GS .you will need to change the center and side stand also.

you can get a RS/RT paralever trailing arm and that will drop it even more...

I think those are all the tricks I know, well you cam always ride with out air on the tyres or even better with out tyres, but i don't think is to stable, specially if you ride on marble and coble stones...

I hope this helps

I'm 5'8" so a bit of a difference :)

I had the seat reupholstered and about 1" of the foam cut out and that helps, comfort about the same.

Of course, once I load up with luggage and a pillion, theres no problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
