I do like the look of them and think that it might just suit me for slower bimbles and some light off road

I keep reading all the stuff about the faults the weight the lack of power etc etc

I don’t think there are any inherent mechanical faults

Power is ok for what it is - a twin

Fuelling and engine/gearbox is a peach

I was planning on buying one until I rode one, just didn’t feel right. Probably just me but get good test ride first.

The engine is amazing for 74bhp
Faults ??? Spokes tarnishing,plastic tank cover cracking.
Fuelling seems fine to me .
All Just over £8K
Suspension can be improved to suit your weight for as little as £200.
Or £3k for the the full rally raid top end stuff..
Or spend £16 k on German ride and possibly have issues in the first few months .
With paint finish ,switchgear ????
Somebody will be along in mo contradicting my view who don’t own a T7 but are
T7 experts.

Some singles make similar power - but they will never be as smooth as a twin, those 701 singles are at their limit of max bhp, whereas the T700 is not and cannot achieve 90 bhp (some have done the mods)

Look at MikeyBoy post about the 690e, trying to smooth out the fuelling

The T700 is super smooth fuelling and a torquey engine

Probably more torque than a 701

Torque is the riders friend and makes a good engine

Just wondered what you meant by ‘power is ok for what it is- a twin’, as it seemed to be a meaningless statement.

Mikeyboy’s bike is irrelevant as it’s 12 years old.
The latest 690/701s are in a different league with the twin balancer shafts and the fuelling is perfect.

The 701 makes about 54 lb ft of torque.Think the Tenere is only 50.

But yes, torque us the rider’s friend , as is lack weight.

On paper the 700 and 701 make very similar power and torque.The only real difference is the 40kgs extra bulk of the Tenere.

A mate of mine is selling his (although I can't remember now if it's the Rallye version?). He came to it via a Virago so should have a take on the T7 that will resonate with you.

I really think you’ll be pissed off because you’re more used to bikes that aren’t built down to a budget. Get a 701.

Try one, would be my suggestion
Take it out for a half day
They are a good backroads bike for all of the tight nadgery backroads of Lincolnshire & the Dales & Moors, plus will do most of the green lanes of the Dales & Moors too
Quality is better than other earlier Tenere
Only you will know
701/690 is another good option but won’t be as good on A1 & M1 that you have to use to get up to North Yorkshire from South Yorkshire

Balance is another thing (not the fallover variety)

The bike is selling so well across the globe because it has a good balance of engine v chassis v handling v value v accessories & upgrades

Power and lack of weight is absolutely everything when you have two sets of wheels, one of which have ultra sticky tyres and dinner plate sized discs

That's a big no unfortunately.

I've a couple of contacts to talk to about making one but have had too much going on to follow that up so far. Initially I'll run a 300m Enduro disc. Once everything is settled down and I get the bike how I want it (if I ever get the 'king bike! ) then I'll sort out a spacer.....they are actually fairly complicated as they replace part of the calliper (well the good ones do, as opposed to being just a plate/bracket)........

What’s the problem with calipers and adaptors?

I’ve got a MotoMaster 298mm Dakar conversion on my 501 and if you can wait until I get home I can measure hole spacing etc then use CAD to show the coordinates if it helps?

Not that I actually know when I’ll get home and it’s certainly not going to be less than 10 days away.

The problem being nobody seems to do one off the shelf.
I'm wanting to go up from 300 to 320mm. They are bespoke to the calliper/fork combo as well as intended disc size. It won't be hard to get one made, I've got the contacts, I just have other things going on taking up my time so will happily run a 300mm disc for the time being. Thank you for the offer though
