Well, my husband and I bought 2 F650 GS's the other week - and you know why? Not to look cool; not to join "the club"; not even to have the BMW stickers (and we haven't got the gear! - although our son is buying their very good childrens stuff) - but because they are a bloody good bike; they are REALLY good to ride; really comfortable; low gravity (we both had ER5's which, although lighter, were top heavy so easy to drop) AND they get good mileage; are a lovely bike to ride around town and are just bloody nice to look at! What is wrong with that? And - we have chosen to join this fraternity! A fairly decent load of people! Sorry to disappoint or disprove Mr Original - but he sounds like some bikers we have met in our time who are what you would call an inverted snob!! Look that up Mr Original! and leave this friendly lot alone!

I drive my car to shopping malls and then put on my 1,200 dollar BMW bike jacket and walk around carrying my 600 dollar helmet.
It's great way to meet woman.

Oh, I learned early in life to never use the "C" word in front of women. They really don't like it. But I still refuse to put the toilet seat down.

Firsly, I don't blame Ewan I blame the Globebusters pair: if I hadn't met them at the Ally Pally after the Alaska-Ushuaia trip in 2004, I'd be back on a TL by now.
I'm not having a mid life crisis as such I'm consciously getting it out of the way early. I turn up at bike meets with phrases like " Is this a bike meet?" before going in for a pint of peppermint tea, but yes the bike is only half: the other is jacking in my job and buggering off round the world for a few years with my HG kit, but we all know I won't do that coz I'm scared ...
