I bought a Carpuiride W502 last May. It was dead on arrival.

Support was a nightmare as they were insistent that I sent a video of the fault (I sent a video of it being attached to the power and nothing happening), then asked me to try unpairing and repairing bluetooth which of course I couldn't do, then they asked me to check the fuse (which was fine, and I replaced it anyway), at which point they asked for a video of the fault (I sent another video of it being attached to the power and nothing happening).

Eventually they decided the best course of action was for me to use it as it was and for them to offer me a $20 rebate... Err, no!

Finally they agreed to refund my money once they had received it back and inspected it.

I posted it exactly as they had instructed, at my own expense of course, and heard nothing for a few weeks. Turns out it was then stuck in Chinese customs and they needed me to pay the $35 customs charge to have it released to them. And of course they couldn't refund me until they had received and inspected it...

At that point, instead of paying the $35, I raised a chargeback against my credit card. At that point Carpuride agreed to refund me and I cancelled the chargeback request.

They then asked me to provide feedback on the product for their website. I did and they took it down about 24 hours later.

It has been replaced with an Ottocast CarPlay Lite C5 (similar carplay/android auto unit) and that's been fine.

For balance, I bought a Carpuride W103 for the car (before the W502) and that's been faultless.

============

I have stated you a fresh thread.

installed the Carpuride W702 CarPlay screen in my BMW Nine T, connecting it to the battery as indicated in the manual. It works well, but the motorcycle's battery drains by itself. What could be the cause?

This is the reason i paid a few quid more and bought it from amazon uk. However, saying that, I have found the unit to be flawless and is exactly what I want for my navigation needs (android auto for phone). I had the W702B unit.....no drain on battery as the bmw can system controls the power to the nav unit.
Anything you connect directly to a battery you need to be careful of........I would always use some kind of relay circuit connected to the ignition that then powers any other external accessories.

Thank you for the replay. Its actualy no straight to the battery. The cable already come with a fuse in between.

I think what the fellow meant was that your device is receiving its power directly from the battery, via a single fused lead.

What I think he is then saying is:

A. Because your device is receiving its power, directly from the battery, via a single fused lead, the device is staying live (ie. it is always receiving power, even when the ignition is off) and is therefore flattening the battery. In other words, it is rather like leaving the lights on, when the engine is not running,

B. He is suggesting putting a relay (a switch) into the circuit, so that the device only receives power when the bike’s ignition is turned on. Then, when the bike’s ignition is turned off, the power will stop and the battery cannot flatten.

PS A very easy way to stop the flow of electricity from the bike’s battery to the device, would be to pull the fuse out. Don’t forget to put the fuse back back, the next time you ride, or the device will not work.
