I can’t create routes with long distances between waypoints in MyRoute

Personally I prefer MRA, couldn’t get on with basecamp.
My only gripe with MRA is it won’t go long distances between waypoints.

Just how far do you want to go between wee points?

I’ve a feeling that we might well have misunderstood each other :beerjug:

Hmm, that’s odd.
When I’ve tried doing long route sections ( IE, Europe t to Milan ) it wouldn’t compute. It just eventually told me to do it in shorter sections

I’ve just tried it again on my phone and it won’t do it just keeps showing the revolving circle.

The possible answer:

There is no explicit maximum distance for a single segment between waypoints in MyRoute-app
but there is a limit on the total number of waypoints per route.

MyRoute-app limits routes to a maximum of 200 route points in total (this includes both "shaping points" and "via points"). The distance between these points can be very large; for example, you can have a route with only a start and finish point, which could span thousands of kilometers if it is a direct route.
However, for practical purposes, it is recommended to place waypoints more frequently (e.g., every 5-10 km or 3 miles) to ensure the navigation system follows your intended path exactly, especially when transferring the route to external GPS devices like Garmin, which may have their own, more stringent, limitations (e.g., a 29 via point limit).
If you are planning an extremely long trip that might exceed the 200-point limit, you may need to break the journey into multiple, smaller route segments.

@Wapping
That may be the answer. I’ve just attempted the same waypoints, but put a 3rd one in at about the halfway point and it did it straight away. Thank you :beerjug:

No problem.

MyRoute’s ‘best practice’ advice is to have a shaping point every 5km / 3 miles. See sticky.

Good route creation (as Mzokk will doubtless confirm) is the base of any successful GPS guided jaunt. Garbage in is garbage (and worse) out.

Me? I can’t see any point in having any routes longer than a day’s ride. Not least, many GPS devices cannot run them.
