Ive decided to cross to the dark side. After a test ride 2 weeks back I put a deposit down on a new Street Glide.

The first thing I noticed is how light it feels in the front end, I have heard so much about it being heavy due to the mounting of the batwing on the forks but Im happy out. And the seat is like a sofa..... The infotainment is better than Honda or BMW its on the same scale as a car.
Im in love.

First thing I did was adjust the angle of the levers, any tips for a newbie to the world of Harley?

• What's best for keeping the chrome maintained?
• Is there any extra power ports other than the pigtail to the battery and the usb-C in the dash?
• Where do I buy some leather chaps, a bandana and key chain

Make sure your tyre pressures are bob on….

The stock seats are instruments of torture, the aftermarket choice is vast……..do your research..

When you get a mo.. go to a closed supermarket car park and practice low speed handling

Use your rear brake more then you are used to.. it settles the frame into long corners

Ref the chrome, do not use aggressive cleaners like auto sol, use cream based chrome cleaner

Thanks swizzle, all going good so far. Few scratches on the black paintwork from a few days away camping. The bag was rubbing but sure that is going to happen.

The only changes I want to do at the moment is a luggage rack to help with the above.

I suggest installing HD's Docking Kit, then items like different rear racks and back rests will latch right on and off, and it's very stout.

Yeah when I hear people say "don't get a Harley with the batwing fairing because it makes the steering too heavy and can be unstable, get the frame mount Road Glide". I ask "have you ever ridden one? The steering is delightful and none have been unstable at speed in the least since 2009". Most admit they hadn't "but they knew someone with one who said that".

You can buy pannier lid covers to protect the paint…..

And I echo Clifton… invest in the QD mounts and rack….can often be picked up second hand on eBay…
