When I asked at CW's today I was told the wait would be a couple of weeks. What spec and colour have you gone for?

thousand apoligies did not read the post properly must try harder next time:topic:bounce1garbo:bounce1

low spec only asked for fog lights heated grips said june was the earliest:bounce1garbo:bounce1

I'm test riding one tomorrow. If I have to wait for June for delivery I'll go mad. I want it now!

I'll let you know what I think.

Cheers

What's wrong with the GT? I thought these latest 1200GTs were the dogs danglies and have thought about trading my 1150RT in for one. Is the new 12GSA really that good?

The GT is a fantastic bike and my main mode of transport or the transport I use most of all.

Rightly or wrongly I like to change my main bike every year because of the miles I do on it. The GT has now covered 26,000 in 10 months and by the time I sell it the needle will be pointing close to 30K. If I left it another 12 months the mileage would be around 60,000 and that would mean a lot of sucking teeth noises from the dealer. I'm also self employed and can put some of it down against tax etc. When I change my bikes I like to have something different each time and in the last few years I've had a 1150GSA, 1200RT, K1200S, KTM 990 Adv and now the 1200GT and I really fancy the new 1200GSA. I nearly bought one last year but thought it was too close to the 990.

When I've sat on a 1200GSA it feels right, it's a big, solid bike and made along the same lines as myself and I feel at home on it, hopefully the test ride won't let me down.

Cheers

Had a great test ride this morning. Started by going around lots of wet, muddy country lanes and then finished off with a fast A road with some dual carriageway.

It took me a while to get the seat right for me. It was too low on the lower setting and on the highest setting it felt like it kept trying to push me into the tank. I solved this by having the front bar high and the rear bar low, to me this felt good.

The bike felt light and flickable and the new gear box is a dream, with every gear being silky smooth. The ESA is great and also comes with "Enduro" settings too for off road riding but those with short legs had better watch out as in this setting the bike does go very high.

The front brakes are now fully floating and have a good positive feel to them.

The engine spins up nicely and is very responsive. You can feel the extra power from 6,000 rpm and up.

I thought I'd like the red but after seeing it in day light I'm now not so sure so it may have to be the new Magnesium Silver colour.

I also wasn't convinced by the tyres on the bike, some Conti Road Attacks, they felt quite slippery in the wet.

Overall though I was very impressed and think I'll be ordering one in the next few weeks. :clap:clap:clap

Can't wait!

I think am mad aswell ordered an 08 gsa:bow:bow:bow at rainbow last saturday,to be delivered in june. how long before the madness wears off or am i destined for the looney bin.:bounce1garbo:bounce1

June seems a long time, mines due in April, did they give a reason as to why it is taking so long or was that your preference?

BMW generally make bikes to spec(to order) but they also make bikes pretty much in advance with most toys in place and just make a few adjustments. If you under spec a bike then it is more likely there will be a delay.............:rob

Also dealers have a quota of a certain amount each month when a ne bike is launched.............x amount each batch- perhaps that particular dealership has sold up untill then.......:bounce1

Delivery dates definitely differ between dealers. I ordered a GSA today, with the Enduro box, to my spec for delivery in the last week of March. Some dealers had been advising May/June as the earliest possible date. Guess it depends hat orders they have on the books.:nenau

Or, I have been musing about it for so long they kept an order open just for me...

IF only BMW dealers were that good!!

They said April then said they'd ring Germany with the spec to see if they could get one sooner so I guess its right that they must have some spec'd up and in stock. But May June seems long summers nearly over;)

Have you tested a bike with an enduro box? Does it make a big difference. Its the 1st gear that's shorter I think, though the guys at my dealers didn't seem to think it made much difference

I haven't tried the Enduro box, have tried the std box, and feel the std could still go lower, hence going for the Enduro option.
It is only first that is lower ,going to 2.6:1 instead of 2.375:1, the overall ratios are 13.142:1 (Enduro) vs 12.005:1 (standard)

1200 adv

I have a 2006 1200 gs ,I enquired about a 1200adv at Rainbow and was told the delivery would be june possibly july.I was told they had sold their quota and were trying to source more from bmw.
I took jeffries demo out and it was great round the lanes and quicker roads around Ilkley.
The engine feels punchier and smooth, the gearbox felt alot smoother than my gs,s.I have ordered a adv with all the bling and take delivery mid april.cant wait :thumb2

Ta for the info
I suppose going off road it would make sense. however I don't think I'll be doing much of that, but sometimes I think manufactures do make thier 1st gears too tall anyway. Its a no cost option to I think.

If its from Jefferies we might be picking them up at the same time:D

Pick my new Gsa up mid march. Dealer had a cancelled order. If not it was end of May.

Interesting that low spec bikes have a delivery date of June.
Does that mean that BMW have orders to build full spec bikes until end of May - I think not.

This seems like a marketing ploy to get peoples to spend more money - i.e. if you want your bike sooner then it must be full spec.
