No its not what you thought....... Its my front ABS ring.

It is totally rusted and am wondering if there is anything I can do with it? If I clean it up with a wire brush can it be sprayed or coated or hot dip.etc......?:nenau

I seem to see traces of silver paint on mine, when I see the state of ABS rings on motor cars, lumps of mud, cobwebs, rust etc and the systems still appear to work I dont think a thin coat of hammerite sprayed on there would make much difference, just be careful not to alter the gap and put it back exactly as it comes off.

Its purely for the asthetics and nothing else but I don't want to touch it if it means the ABS wont work cause I am aware of the gaps and realise that a coat of paint could hamper this.

Just clean off the loose rust and spray it with smooth hammerite just check the gap as normal when completed it wiil still work no probs (assuming it works now!).

Yeah it works now OK, but thankfully not too often:D

painted mine with silver hammerite using a humbrol model brush....kept the paint thin and did it in situ just spin the wheel...

since reading bout your rusty ring , done the decent thing ! off with my rusty ring and a coating of hammerite smooth silver , came up a treat :), but it now shows up the rest of my rusty odds and sods , me thinks that this ere silver spray will be busy :toungincheek
