I might sell an HP2 Enduro I have. It has 800 miles on the clock only. It is totally standard and like brand new. I have four of them, and the reason I brought this one was that I was going to export it to the USA, which I cannot do, so I purchased a US spec model out there. Can you explain why you can't export it to the states? My job might take me out there one day and I had always assumed that I would be able to take my HP2 with me!

PS: You're meant to advetise bikes in the for sale section and rules ask for a price too....

I went through it all with the BMWOA. Unless it is a US spec machime, which the European versions are not, it is immpossible to export. My Thailand HP2 however is as US emmision plated bike and I would have no problem exporting this one to the USA. I ended up biting the bullet and purchasing one from Max BMW in New York.

Opps, sorry I didn't read the rules. I'm sort of not wanting to let it go, but I am not sure whether to mothball it or not.

PS: Mav, I think the rules allow you to keep a bike ther for six months and then you have to take the bike out with you.
 
why not do a day trip to canada or mexico then come back sweet-o done for another six months and a proper excuse to go places....:thumb2

And it's not possible to make it US spec? :nenau I really should check in with Bilco on this as I thought he left his bike there....

As for buying one in NYC, I visit there pretty much every month so if you need someone to take it for a ride regularly, just let me know :D

That was my plan B - although I had understood it was every 12 months.
 
cool two trips a year should convince the nazi's your not planning on staying.... and they'll leave you alone....:D
 
Hi Mav, I think it is possible, but the cost involved, as you would have to have the bike sent to a lab for testing, would cost so much it would not be practicle. I am a member of the BMWOA club, and I went through them for advice and they basically told me to forget it. There maybe a way if you take it in and out of Canada every six months, I am not too sure about this though, which from New York is not a big deal, well not in the summer months anyway! My USA HP2 lives down in Reno, NV!

I now live in the USA, but in the in between years when I was doing six months here, six months there (in three-four week stints) I had an R100GS that I rode around the deserts & mountains of California for two years, then shipped back to London. All I had to do was pay VAT on its current value, there were no other issues with shipping it that way, but now I live here I can tell you registering an out of state bike is almost impossible, and registering a non-EPA & FED certified bike is totally impossible.

You can buy a really great HP2's here for around $13k - which is around £8,500

Am selling mine 4500 miles 07 both sets of rims in a couple of weeks 9k no offers
 
HP2

At 5'8" & 66 yrs I've never been confortable on this bike so I decided to sell it tonight. Going back to something I understand, Ducati.

You can not just go to Canada and return back to the US for another 6 months. The US have a rule for this like most things.
