Is it possible§ to run a printer from an I pad?, Itralise what a silly question this may seem but I use mine all the time and would be
perfecta if this could be done, any advice or other wise appriceated. Many thanks for looking.

I use an HP printer from my iPad with no problems

Depends on what you mean by 'run a printer', but if you mean 'print from my iPad' then yes, should work with most wifi printers now.

Ideally your printer should be "Airprint" compatible, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work if yours isn't.

if using it infrequently, get a laser printer. I have a mono laser printer bought in 2018. Just use it to print tickets, documents to take on trips etc. B&W is fine for this. It is still on the original toner cartridge and fires up every time even if not used for 6 months. You won't get that with an inkjet printer. Pantum branded.

If I need colour printing I used to use the one at work. Left there in Jan 2023 and not needed a colour print since then but I would just pop down to my sister's as she has a colour printer to use for her craft workshop side hustle.

Just to confirm what Wessie has put; an infrequently used inkjet will dry up and clog, but a B&W laser printer will sit for ever and a day until you need it. Most come with two 'ink' cartridges, I've just changed on to the second one after 6 years; when that dies I'll buy a new printer.

Having lost (given up) day-to-day access to the high class laser printers at work, I bought a Brother laser printer for use at home, not least as I was already bored with ink cartridges drying up.

I haven’t looked back.

It links wirelessly with my Apple phone / iPad and /or with my MacBook and / or work supplied Dell laptop.

I am a complete illiterate when it comes to linking things up, in my world either stuff like this works straight off the bat or it goes into the bin. No complaints at all from me on the printer front… idiot proof!

I did the same.

bought an Epson workforce printer, it printed, copied and scanned.
As requested here it also WIFI printed and i printed with tablets, phones and laptop wirelessly... great!

A year later it dried up and refused to print... totally knackered.

As already said, unless your using every week get a laser one!

Same as everyone else...

I've been using Mono laser printers since I can remember. I barely ever need colour and if I do I can go to the library and do it there.

I've had a couple over the years. My last one was a Brother which worked fine until it didn't. Replaced it with the Xerox B230 (which does have Airprint) as it had all the good reviews and does double sided printing.

Best one I've had to date. Can't remember how long I've had it but must be five years at least I would guess. Still on the toner that it came with.

Yep, if any printing needs doing its down to the library (for free)

Well, many thanks for all the info Wapping’s post seems to mirror my wants if it works with out too much haselll as if this happens out the window with it!. But what is the cost of lazier printers?, in the old days they were mega bucks so any suggestions would be a help. many thanks chaps.

last one I bought was £30 but it seems they have got dearer in the last decade!

Known brands for black & white are around £80 for Brother. Xerox one mentioned above £100

Colour from about £160. Prices from Amazon.

Just make sure you do not buy a bundle with a toner subscription.

A colour inkjet can be had for under £50 but you have higher consumable costs due to inkjet blockage with infrequent use. Analogous to carb jets on an unused old snotter gumming up.

Well I am amazed I thought later printers were mega bucks but on Amazon theirvfrom £30.00. seen Ahp for £50 which might suit but as long as it’s simple to plug and play this will do so many thanks and I’ll
have a go.

Before 'saving' £50 on the HP, do a bit of a search for the model and see if people can print to them with iPads...

Partly why I 'splashed out' on the Xerox was the fact it had Airprint (and because it does double sided)

At £100 it still seems to be the highest rated with the functionality.

Like @Wapping I went for a Brother mono laser printer which is doing very well for what I need it for. If memory serves, I think it cost in the region of £130.
