Hi Abel - I haven't ridden a 1200GSA - but I have ridden the old 1150GS and the pre and post '08 1200 GS with standard seat heights - found the 1150GS too difficult to handle when stopping but could ride either of the 1200GS bikes with a little care - even in the snow on one day. However I was still a little on tip-toe so went for a lowered 1200GS '08 when this option was made available this year. I didn't ever ride the GSA because it just looked way too tall - btw I have a 29.5" inisde leg
Other members claim they have no problem with the tall GSA but this is down to the individuals own comfort and perception and a test drive is therefore the only way to really be sure - if possible try and arrange an extended one.
With regards reliability most of the problems seem to be related to the fuel pump controller or the EWS antenna - I have not had my 08 GS long so have not seen either isse, a family member has an 06 and he has not seen them either - however BMW appear to have initiated a recall campaign against the EWS and hopefully have also sorted out a more reliable fuel pump controller.
That said the ASC and ESA options are perhaps a tad new in concept to have really shown up any major issues - although off-roady types that want to be able to spanner at the side of the road definetly don't like the idea of technology that needs a computer to fix.
As to whether the extra cost of the GSA is worth it for the extra bits, unless you like the look of one over the other, then the answer to that possibly depends on whether you value fuel range as most GS owners probably fettle the bike with engine protection and pannier systems anyway. Note screenwise any buffetting can be an issue with either GS or GSA as it is a tad dependent on the build of the rider.

31" inseam and I find no problem with my 2008 1200GSA with standard seat, in either high or low setting

Hi Abel,here is my bit,had two standard 1150 bikes,sold one,regretted it ,bought another and had it written off on the A27 in march,(classic t bone) no doubt in my mind the gs riding position prevented more serious injury,anyway,I now have an 07 gsa,and my little legs are only 30" long.So far no probs,I bought a secondhand low gs seat and could reach the ground ok but seat is like a plank.Then I bought a sargent seat,more comfort,but because of its shape its not as low as the plank,The gsa is very well balanced and I find it easier than the previous 1150 bikes to handle at low speed, so,I think as long as you plan difficult parking situations you wont regret 1200 gsa,go get it,Dave Portsmouth.

Hi Abel,Thought about you last week,being as I was stuck behind your old 1150 for 3000 mile tour round the alps.She has 63k on her now and has been round the world,not missed a beat.
She even followed me up the Stella last week on my adv nearly got to the top,but the tourances were not up to it.Andy

I figured I wasn't using my car much anyway, so that's the other £10k sorted
, so I took a test ride of both from Bahnstormer last week.The GS was much the same as my 04 was, cept hopefully reliable....
It did however look FAR too girlie next to the GSa, which I could get the toes of both feet down on, or the flat of one foot, so game on.
Something not too dissimilar to this should be on it's way from Germany in a few weeks time.

I dropped my 1150 four times- twice when stalling it on the steep track to my shack.
Traded it for a 1200 after going in to look at a couple of 06 Adventures they had in as I was intimidated by the sheer bulk of them.
Caved in and bought an 08 Adventure and find it is the better balanced of the three and don't have a problem with the height, it seems to me that the 08 is lower than the previous Adventures
