Lately I've been interested in the R1300GS and when I stumbled on to a leftover 25 model that seemed well priced I went for it. Tuesday I dug my box trailer out from the snow, loaded up my trade, drove the 2 hours to the dealer, and returned. There won't be any riding here until the snow melts but I've been thinking what I want to add and oddly not too much.

Mine did not come with a centre stand which would be nice to have but as far as I can tell no one offers one except BMW and they want $650 for it. At that price I think I'll do w/o one.

For panniers I'm leaning toward SW-Motech Trax but I haven't ordered them yet.

This GS came with the small wind screen but I thought having a larger touring screen might be nice for the cooler seasons. Just searching on line I stumbled on an MRA Touring Windshield on close-out so that's on the way.

That's all I can think of all I need now is warmth and sunshine!

I’m sure you’ll love it when the weather improves . It’s basically the most sporty GS they have built . Flickable and fast and yet very comfortable

Have a look at the SW Motech Dusc too .
I’ve had both Trax and Dusc and much prefer the latter . They’re also much lighter .
Had them on my VStrom with the quick release Pro Side Carriers.
Kept one of the boxes to use as top box on X-ADV

I have looked at them on-line and watched a video (Big Rock Moto maybe?) and they actually look pretty nice, maybe I'll give them a closer look. The main issue for me is they are side load and I really prefer top load panniers and I never use a top box.

Love a new bike day, hope the weather clears quickly for you Clifton
👍👍

Thanks Oldrat! This was Tuesday morning leaving to pick it up and there's probably a couple more inches now. Next Tuesday it's finally supposed to get above freezing from a warm front but that's unfortunately also bringing rain.

Satna it looks like it's too warm for snow there now, I hope you weren't planning on skiing?

Welcome Clifton :thumby:

If you’re after a screen, I can recommend the screen from the GSA. It fits, although conventional wisdom says you have to remove the black ‘wing’ wind deflectors from the standard screen (not sure if you have those with the enduro screen). I’ve left mine on and it works fine. The wind protection from the GSA screen is notably better. For reference, I’m 6ft on a standard seat.

Off to Strontian tomorrow, I want some snow lol
This was Strontian this New Year. Santa (#9) rode up on his motorcycle :bow

I find the standard screen (non GSA) in the high position perfect for long distance cruising and doesn’t get in the way of your view .

OK thanks I'll keep this in mind if the MRA Touring screen doesn't work out. They had a couple left and it was only $65 shipped so I ordered it this morning. It may be too large I don't know? This is it but not where I ordered it from.

Oh my God that looks as bad as here, Santa rode his motorcycle in that?

The screen on mine is smaller than I saw on most GS's and it looks like it'll be ok in good weather. This image doesn't show it very well but here it is in the low position with the screen in the upper holes. Raised it just covers the top of the GPS. I just wanted a slightly larger screen for certain conditions.

Hope you enjoy it Clifton.

Did you get rid of the Guzzi?

Kimbo :beerjug:

Thank you, me too! :) Yes I traded the Stelvio. There was not a thing wrong with it I just felt I wanted another GS.

Ahh ok . Looks like I might have a taller screen than that
