I took an R1300RS out today

I think the optional high bars are the tubular ones. Wunderlich do a riser kit for the standard yoke mounted individual bars.
For pics of the bike see the original post as this is the bike I've now purchased.
No tubular option yet for the 1300RS, risers and is 15mm only. Tubular was an option on the 1250RS from factory (like mine) or from Wunderlich for around £300.

I took it out because I am working on a video where I am comparing the Guzzi V100S the R1200RS and now the R1300RS

So ahead of that I thought I might put my thoughts down with some pics

However I took the new R1300RS out to day and I can honestly say its by far the best bike I have ever ridden, first impression on firing it up hmmm still clattery engine, but I ride an air-cooled Ducati and test

But Feck that RS is good
So what are saying is it's a BMW and its better than a Chinese bike.
Don’t tell @Arsey 🤣

I really need to put this thread on ignore, otherwise it could get expensive in early 2026. Even with the tubular bars like yours I've added up and back and with a 790mm seat, the Puig max screen and bar end weights it's much better (for me) than it was stock so I'd be interested in how one of these are with the high bars. No Motorrad colours though unless you have the sports pack which for an old dwarf like me with short arms and deep pockets is a non starter.

I solved the problem by having several test rides. One with ASA, one with high bars and the normal one. Arrived to the conclusion that performance between the my 1250RS Sport and the new 1300RS is minimal. My 1250 has all the ergonomics changes to fit me, luggage etc. The price to change is ridiculous. I do like the ASA and at some point in the future( 3/4 years) I will change to have that.
So for that reason I am out.
However someone going for a 1250RS can have one for not a lot of cash. Or someone going from a 1200 to 1300 there is a major difference.

I can’t see the 1300RS being a big seller as most of those with the means to buy one have dodgy knees and a knackered back . So BMW make it smaller and sportier than the outgoing 1250. I guess they had to as they’ve made the 1300RT sportier too .
Personally I think they’ve lost the plot .

The 1300GSA is slow selling and I reckon this RS will be even worse .

The new RT will have a mini boom for all those who just have to ride the latest version , then in a years time prices of the 1250RT will firm up, just like the 1250GSA when owners realised they should have stuck and not twisted !!

The 1250RT has already firmed up. Was looking at one several weeks ago. Fully loaded top spec. Sold in 4 days at NOG.

The styling of the 1300 certainly is more invisible than the 1200, which I thought looked good and distinctive .

Can’t see why BMW have made it smaller and more compact than the previous iterations .Surely most prospective owners would welcome if it was a tad bigger and roomier ?
Every new version of a car is always bigger than the car it’s replacing . Today’s Polo is bigger than the early Golf.M2 now bigger than early M3.
Yet bikes get smaller …..and heavier !

I agree the RS is a pretty sound bike. Whenever I'm out on the GS and I come off a sandy dirt road on to pavement I wish I had the RS with me at that point. I do get hip cramps on the RS but not so much anymore and only if I gas it for a couple of gears. It seems to me i get them worse on the GS. I think it's due to the high seat being a little too wide for me. And I do like the forward crouched position on the RS and i feel that is actually better for the back in the long run. It allows your back to bend naturally when taking in bumps and the like. When your back is straight up and down it can't flex with the hits so well. Sometimes what feels great for a very short ride around the block isn't actually the best for the long haul and this is a bicycle fitting concept too ....

I knew I'd seen the 1 on the right somewhere before
