New pc and reinstalled I tunes.With old pc backed up all music to a external hard drive,when imported to I tunes it wont run without the external hard drive connected,how do I stop this and allow I tunes to save the files to it rather than the drive.

the iTunes library think all the tunes are on the external drive, delete the library and copy all your tunes from the external drive to the PC local drive, then add that folder to iTunes and that should solve the problem.
