I was'nt worried, but not so sure now

It's a whine, it's what i always hear from you whenever you post



- what pitch, how loud. I'm at the other end of the internet, not clairvoyant.

Well, its sort of like this wooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhllllllllllllll

It is a feint low pitched whine, only in 6th gear, but very slightly in 5th now too. Its always beeen there, but just seems louder now. I have put in halfords GL5 gear oil, recomended on here. could this be anything to do with it ?
Just tell me its OK and just ride it

I had a terrible whine coming from the back of my bike when I was returning from Germany last year. It got so bad that I had to stop in Holland and phone Steptoe.

It turned out that my wife had put 4 bottles of Liebfraumilch in my panniers

I use Halfords GL5 too, mine sort of goes EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE in third gear, the situation has been vastly improved by the fitment of some additional clunks, I was rummaging in the garage and came across a set of old transmission clunks from an old Guzzi, what do you know they fit perfectly

mine was the opposite, whined in 1st , second, third, tapered off in fourth, when i was going fast enough to drown her voice out, is your intercom set like a tomtom that gets louder the faster you go?

I had a nwew 1100 RT in 1997, the gearbox on this was even noisier than my 84000mile gs but was always ok. Severakl friends brought at the same time one had two new gearboxes but still not much better so I put up with it, no hassel in 40.000 miles till GS took over.
